I started photographing weddings in 2003 and eventually left my day job as a designer to do photography full-time, but I’ve never been able to turn the designer off. In addition to photos, I create a few animated gifs from every session. My style is influenced by design principles, architecture, Edward Hopper paintings, plus films by Stanley Kubrick & Denis Villeneuve. While composing I put as much attention into the scene as the subjects. I prefer to cover events solo and do my own editing, posting teasers the next day. I’m based in the Detroit area but cover weddings all over America.

I’m routinely told that working with me is easy, fun, and relaxing. Plus your photos won’t look like everyone else’s. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a wide variety of weddings, straight and gay, involving various flavors of the world’s religions and cultures: Christian, Muslim, Judaism, Buddhism, Orthodox, Catholic, Atheist, Chinese, Egyptian, Chaldean, Persian, Nigerian, Indian, Pakistani, etc. If your wedding is something I’ve never experienced that makes me really excited.

The Most Amazing/Talented Photographer
From the moment we looked through Jeffrey's portfolio, we instantly knew he was the photographer that would elevate our special day! Jeffrey brings a curiosity and passion to his work where you can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, which only made our experience with him more fun. We got hit with some unfortunate weather the day of our wedding and Jeffrey had an incredible backup plan that only heightened our initial vision. If you aren't afraid to get a little creative and adventurous with your photos, Jeffrey is the perfect photographer for you. We can't say enough good things about him and hopefully will get the opportunity to work with him again!

Unmatched Talent
JLB is not just a photographer. He is a true artist. My husband and I wanted our wedding photos to be unique, not the typical cookie cutter shots you usually see, to fit our intimate wedding. We feel so lucky to have been referred to JLB. It was clear from our first meeting that he’s the best in his craft and cares deeply about his work. We were totally blown away by what he captured of us and our family. He was also a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. His was intentional, kind, and provided amazing direction during all of our photos. The preview he provides is stunning (and unbelievably quick), and the gifs are so special. He made our wedding unforgettable, and even generously gifted us some prints of shots from the day. You’ll won’t be able to look at wedding photos the same after seeing his work. A consummate professional and a truly talented artist. Everything he said he would do he did: timelines, deliverables, communication, it was truly white glove. We’d recommend JLB in a heartbeat.

The BEST photographer for your special day!
The only thing you actually get to keep from your wedding is your spouse, the rings and of course the photos! JLB was recommended to us friends who hired him as their photographer and we are so glad they did! Not only do we get these photographs forever but he was such a great person to spend our day with! He was incredibly easy to communicate with leading up to the day and his planning doc was a huge help to us in getting a schedule together. He traveled to River North Chicago for us and made sure to scout the area to put together a plan to get pictures that fit our vision and met us at our rehearsal to preview the venue and check in. On the day of the wedding he made sure everything flowed smoothly, captured fun candid moments, and posed us intentionally for other shots and found ways to make us laugh and loosen up when we started to get awkward about getting our pictures taken. He helped make the day fun, and all of our guests loved him during the reception! He even managed to get the mobster vibe family photos we wanted with our awkward midwest family. Most importantly our pictures turned out amazingly. The sneak peek the day after with some choice shots and some GIFs were so much fun to get and go through together. We whisked away on our honeymoon and our welcome home present was our full gallery, the turn around time was incredible and we got to end our honeymoon at home reliving our wedding day. We are so happy to have had him as our photographer and we wish we could give him more than 5 stars!

From the very beginning, Jeffrey was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we truly cannot recommend him enough. Long before our wedding day, he made us feel confident that we were in great hands. He is incredibly organized, provides a detailed planning document that helps you think through every part of the photography timeline, and was always quick to answer questions and offer guidance. It was clear from the start that he genuinely cared about making our day as smooth and stress-free as possible. On the wedding day, he exceeded every expectation. He made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, kept everything moving without ever making us feel rushed, and somehow managed to be everywhere at once while remaining calm and professional. His presence made the entire experience so enjoyable. When we received our gallery, we were absolutely blown away. We spent hours reliving our wedding day through the photos, and he captured so many beautiful moments we had either missed entirely or forgotten in all the excitement. Hire JLB immediately!
Jeffrey is the most fantastic photographer hands down. Care, expertise, and talent go into every single photo he takes. As a result, every photo is a singular work of art, incorporating architecture, lighting, and structure. Moreover, he is a kind person that my now husband and I describe as “a true homie.” Despite my husband and I being quite camera shy, Jeffrey gave us direction in a way that created comfort. We never felt confused or shy, rather we felt confident and fun throughout our engagement shoot and wedding day. Jeffrey is an excellent communicator who gives direction to all involved, in a clear, concise and helpful manner. We also received SO many compliments during our wedding regarding Jeffrey. Consistently, we had people approach us to say “wow! Your photographer is amazing.
