Chasing Light | Photo & Video is a San Diego-based wedding photography and videography team devoted to capturing the real moments that make a wedding unforgettable. The quiet glances, the uncontrollable laughter, the tears during a first look—these are the moments that matter most. With a documentary-style approach, the team focuses on preserving the genuine emotion and natural beauty of each couple’s story as it unfolds. Russ and Clara, a husband-and-wife team with more than a decade of experience documenting weddings together. Their shared passion for storytelling allows them to see moments from both an artistic and emotional perspective.

All of our packages come with a free engagement shoot. We shoot on 3 high end digital cameras as well as 3 film cameras. We average 1000 individually edited photos for our weddings. We also have a 7-14 day turnaround for our albums.

Good Experience
Choosing Chasing Light Photography was the easiest decision we made for our wedding. Russ and Clara are incredibly talented and so kind. Our engagement session completely prepared us for the big day, making us feel natural in front of the camera. On the wedding day, they kept everything moving smoothly without making us feel rushed. They looked out for me the whole time, helping with my dress train and veil details. They were also so thoughtful with our older family members who needed a bit of extra assistance. The high-quality photos and beautiful highlight video are things we will cherish forever.

Good Work
Everything worked out wonderful! All the photos and videos capture every precious moment and they will last a lifetime. The photos are edited in a timeless fashion and are gorgeous. They also took our engagement photos free of charge and we really like those. We loved that we get the rawedited photos and video which makes it easy to make amateur edits for IG reels and YouTube. Overall it was a great experience and they delivered tremendous value for the price.*

Chasing Light is a MUST! From the day I got engaged I was on the hunt for the best photographer & videographer. I read through a bunch of reviews and talked with a few, but I knew Russ & Clara were who we wanted to work with. From the initial phone call with Russ, he was professional, honest, and had great energy. Before committing to a vendor, he gave me insight on what to look for/ ask before booking and signing contacts. We initially chose a photo only wedding package, but after our incredible engagement photoshoot, we booked them for video the day of and a photographer for our rehearsal dinner. (Rehearsal dinner photos are a must!) When we met it felt like we already knew them, they made us feel relaxed and at ease. My husband hates photos, yet we ended up taking pictures in the ocean because we were having such a fun time. We got our photos/ video back quickly, & get to keep all the proofs! They were very responsive and answered all my random questions leading up to the day. I can go on and on but seriously, I had the most perfect day & so happy we decided to capture it all with Chasing Light!

Russ and Clara were amazing!
Russ and Clara were amazing! We had rain the morning of our wedding, which brought on some stress, but once Russ and Clara got there, they brought such a calming presence! They did such a great job of making our pre-ceremony timeline run so smoothly. They were professional, communicative and talented. They did such a great job guiding our families and wedding party and kept everyone on track. We couldn’t ask for better photos! The video they put together was also incredible, all of our friends and family were in awe. We can’t wait to see the rest. They captured our day so beautifully, and we will cherish these memories forever.

Amazing Experience
We had an amazing experience with Chasing Light Photography and couldn’t recommend them more. We booked a package that included our engagement session, and we’re so glad we scheduled it close to the wedding. Clara really helped us get comfortable in front of the camera and with each other, which made such a difference on the big day. For our wedding, we had both Russ and Clara, and they were the perfect balance of professional and laidback. They created such a relaxed, fun environment that allowed us to truly enjoy taking photos instead of feeling stiff or overwhelmed. They made us feel completely at ease the entire day. For me the bride they were so helpful helping me with my veil with all the little details. We also really appreciated how accommodating and thoughtful they were with our parents, always making sure they were comfortable by helping them with their canes and not rushing them. When we received our photos, we were blown away by how beautiful and high-quality they turned out. Every moment was captured so perfectly, and we truly can’t wait to hang them in our home. We also received a video that allows us to relive our wedding day, which is something we’ll cherish forever.
