In my other life, I'm a secondary teacher with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in English. I understand what a difference just the right words make, and I am available to help you to craft vows that convey your love and devotion to one another.

Description

This is pretty much all most people need; I don't add in any surcharges for things like mileage or side ceremonies, because a) that's not how I prefer to do things, and b) I avoid math whenever possible.

The One With the Rehearsal

Description

This is essentially my basic package with the addition of a rehearsal held prior to the wedding. I don't wind up doing many rehearsals, but if you want me there we can absolutely make it happen.

    We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant for our wedding! Dave was kind, professional, and so easy to work with from the very beginning. He took the time to get to know us as a couple and made our ceremony feel incredibly personal and meaningful. One of the things we appreciated most was how many different options Dave offered when it came to building the structure of our ceremony. He was incredibly accommodating and worked with us to make sure all of our needs, preferences, and ideas were included. He made the entire process feel easy and never made us feel like we had to follow a certain format. On our wedding day, Dave helped everything feel calm and seamless, and his warmth and personality made the ceremony even more special. Our guests had so many wonderful things to say about how beautiful and heartfelt the ceremony was. We are so grateful that Dave was such an important part of our wedding day. We highly recommend him to any couple looking for an officiant who truly cares about making your ceremony personal, meaningful, and memorable!

    Fantastic Officiant

    Dave was the perfect officiant! From the start of the process he was so kind and helpful with figuring out exactly what we wanted included in our ceremony. He helped us customize everything and make the ceremony feel very personal to us. We would definitely recommend him to anyone planning their wedding. If you want someone calm, prepared, professional and funny, Dave is your officiant!! Guests were coming up to us at the reception to say how much they loved the ceremony and Dave.

    David is the best!

    Best Officiant!!

I started officiating weddings in the summer of 2017. I am an English teacher, and one of my first students from way back in 2004 contacted me and asked me to officiate for him and his bride, so I jumped at the chance to make that happen.
At the time of writing (April of 2025), I've performed just over 600 weddings. I'm having a blast, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon.
Absolutely! After we meet to discuss your plans, I'll send you a draft of a ceremony on a Google Doc. Once you have that, then you can go into the document and make whatever changes/edits/revisions you want until it's exactly what you want it to be. I also work with couples to design unique side ceremonies that are special for them or tied to their heritage. From handfastings to beer blending ceremonies to a Viking Sword Exchange...there's something out there for everyone!
I do rehearals, but pretty rarely. In my experience, if you're doing your rehearsal at a venue then there's a coordinator on site who takes you through who is walking with whom and how quickly. Because we work together in advance to prepare your ceremony, there aren't many surprises coming your way as far as I am concerned, so more often than not I don't have much to do at a rehearsal. Having said that though, if you want me to be there when you walk through things so you feel more prepared, then we'll absolutely make it happen.
Of course! Plenty of couples will take care of the legal end of things beforehand for any number of reasons. Even if you're already legally married, I can still work with you to create a ceremony for your big day with family and friends.
I feel like that's way beyond my scope, folks. I don't have the training that would make me feel comfortable providing any sort of premarital counseling before your wedding.
Sure am! Since June of 2008, with a tremendous wife and partner and two kids around whom my world revolves. Life is pretty sweet.
