Hi! I'm Karen, owner and founder of Karmel Design Team. KDTA l began with one goal in mind: to specialize in beauty. With over 20 years of experience serving the greater Orlando FL area and various hair and makeup accolades, I wanted to bring together a team of award winning, talented individuals who do more than just hair and makeup. Yes, there is a nonrefundable deposit of $100 required to lock in the date for our services.We book on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot guarantee your date or confirm your artist without the retainer and contract.
Karmel Design Team Artistry schedules services based on the number of requests and time constraints. We typically assign one Master Artist for up to 6-8 services (hair and makeup count as 2 services). This can range from one artist to up to 10 artists, depending on the appointment needs. For example, if 6 adults are receiving both hair and makeup, that equals 12 services, and we would schedule 2 master artists. Our team is scheduled automatically based on your requested and booked services. We also offer VIP options if you want to add multiple artists to customize or shorten the getting ready window.
We require a minimum of 4 services for booking on weekends (Friday-Sunday) during peak season (8:00 AM - 3:00 PM). Please check with us to see if your date falls within peak season or off-season. No minimum is required from Monday to Thursday or for early morning events before 8:00 AM. Both hair and makeup each count as one service. For instance, if 2 adults (including the bride) receive both hair and makeup, it totals 4 services. You can mix and match services to meet your needs. We also try to accommodate client-only and last-minute bookings when possible, so feel free to reach out about your special date.
Yes! KDTA is available for events and bookings 24 hours a day. Early AM rates are listed on our pricing and service menu. Fill out our contact form to receive pricing and availability.
Each hair or makeup service for the bridal party takes about 35-45 minutes, depending on the style's complexity. The bride's hair and makeup usually take 60+ minutes each. The bridal party is styled first, and the bride is done three-quarters of the way through to almost last. The final 20-30 minutes are reserved for touch-ups, including applying lips, touching up powder, and making sure everyone is happy with the services. Our products are long-lasting, waterproof, and humidity-resistant. It doesn't matter who goes first for hair and makeup because we will fully touch up everyone before we leave.
Our team is famous for our signature "Natural Glam" look, which we describe as a classic look. This style includes flawless skin and accentuated eyes and lips. We excel at creating a variety of styles, from soft glam to full glam. Share your vision with us, and we will bring it to life!
That is no problem! We are happy to customize your makeup to be as soft and natural as you like and feel comfortable with.
YES! We can work with all hair types. We can perfect a clients natural curl pattern with smaller curling rods ect.
We suggest booking your bridal trial 1-3 months before your wedding day, ideally after you have chosen your hair accessories, jewelry, and when your hair is close to its final length and color. Doing the trial too early might necessitate a second trial later on. If you prefer to have a trial before officially booking our services, we can arrange that and temporarily reserve your date. For brides who are traveling, we can schedule your trial whenever you're in town and will do our best to accommodate you. Trials are typically held Monday through Friday at our studio by appointment only, as our weekends are usually reserved for weddings.
We suggest airbrush makeup for most clients because it offers long-lasting wear, a lightweight feel, and a natural look. However, based on your skin texture, we can combine traditional and airbrush techniques. We are flexible and can use either traditional or airbrush makeup, depending on your preference, as both have great staying power. The choice of foundation type is primarily determined by your skin texture. Our kits are carefully curated with products that perform exceptionally well on camera, in person, and under Florida's challenging weather conditions.     10’s all around!

    Karmel Design Team Artistry was fantastic to work with from start to finish. They stayed in constant touch throughout the planning process and were happy to adjust things until everything looked exactly how I wanted it. On the day of my wedding, my makeup held up beautifully for the entire 24 hours, no touch-ups needed even though I was sweating quite a bit. One of my favorite moments was watching them make my grandma feel absolutely radiant and confident. The team's skill and attention to detail really showed in their work as there was about 7 different skin types and varying skin colors. For reference my hair is 3c and my skin type is combination. Honestly everyone looked majestic! I'd highly recommend them to any couple looking for a makeup artist who cares about getting it right.

    Could of been worse

    We had a good experience with Karmel Design Team Artistry on our wedding day. Karen was super accommodating and didn't mind when we ran 15 minutes late, which took a lot of stress off us. The makeup was absolutely gorgeous and stayed put all day, which was exactly what we needed. However, the hairstyle didn't hold up the way we hoped. I showed Karen a reference photo of what I wanted, but she let us know she "did not know how i did that", and unfortunately the curls fell out within an hour. Overall, Karen's friendly attitude and quick responses made the planning process smooth, and her pricing was fair for the work. We'd definitely recommend them if you're looking for solid makeup work.

    KDTA did my hair and makeup for my wedding and I couldn't be more pleased! Diana was my artist and she was great throughout the entire process. During the trial, she took my inspo photos and my feedback and adjusted to create my perfect look for my wedding. KDTA was so easy to work with throughout the entire process and I would recommend them to anyone!

    A really great choice
