We hired Hartworks for our wedding last year, and intentionally did not write a review for this vendor post wedding. As we look back on our photos, we feel it’s important to share our experience given the many corners cut. Several issues: - Floral mock up: we paid extra to bring florals in our color palette to our mock up. She instead brought arrangements for someone else’s wedding, which were clearly not in our color palette. She took this arrangement back with her, and we saw the exact arrangement in someone else’s wedding. See photos. - She then tried to tell us that was indeed our color palette, and re-did a virtual mock up. I never wanted it changed - I just wanted what we originally had! The resulted in multiple frustrating revisions. - The quote she sent us was incorrect and had to be modified — when adding the candles, she accidentally added an extra 300 PER centerpiece. This had to be modified and was a bit of a sticker shock! - On the day of the wedding, corners were cut — some of the arrangements had exposed stems and floral foam. See photos for comparison of what was promised vs what was delivered. Even our planner was “shocked” at what was delivered and made attempts using bridesmaids bouquets to make it look less barren. While we loved the personal bouquets and feel they were well done, given the issues above, we recommend you find an alternative florist for your wedding.
Response from vendor•Jun 20, 2025Carina, I'm so sorry to hear how we as a company didn't meet your expectations and that your planner was “shocked”. It looks like you've taken your time to really think through your frustrations & i want you to know i hear you. I would love the opportunity to make this right with you, but I know I can't “fix” that day or your pictures. I will reach out to you privately to see if there is anything I can do to remedy this situation, but for the sake of the public, I want to make sure I respond to each of your concerns. Floral mock up - this is not included in our standard packages & i do charge a minimal fee for not only our time to prep & design, but also our time onsite with you talking through everything and the flowers since we do have to buy florals for this especially. It is ironic that the wedding that week had similar colors, but can assure you that we DO NOT reuse florals as a part of our standard practice. If you see the same florals its because we had to buy a full pack of something in order to make your arrangement. For example a rose back comes with 25 stems. You can tell in that image that it is not the exact arrangement. The only flowers I see that are the same are the tulips & the ranunculus. You have astilbe & cottage yarrow & two different colored roses. We had sweet peas & juliet garden roses in the wedding which were not in yours. Color revisions. I was looking back at my notes & this is where we missed the mark & i take full responsibility. There are multiple factors that go into this from the start including the initial meeting and understanding your desires, to the building the quote, to the ordering of flowers & ensuring our wholesaler understands the specific color, to the blending of said colors on mock up day & event day. I remember being onsite for your mockup & you being happy with the colors, only for you to email later on saying it was wrong. & then on your wedding day being nervous to drop your personals off to your bridal suite, only for you to be thrilled & so excited with how they turned out. When i got to the wholesaler that week i had asked for peach but was delivered coral. Florists & math… I completely understand how this was a sticker shock & want to assure everyone that we fixed this immediately. It was an honest mistake by one of my team members & I'm so glad we figured out what happened. Math can be hard sometimes. The day of your wedding… We had a 2 hour load in time at your venue… We were there early & started setting everything up immediately. Luckily we are friends with your venue manager & she gave us special permission to start setting up all of your tables. There were a lot of pieces that went into this & i had a large team & we were hustling. The arch above your head arrived 20 mins after the allotted arrival time & took the guy almost 45 minutes to set it up as he didn't know how… We scrambled to put as many flowers on that as quick as possible and then let it drip off of your table before moving your table under it so the photographer could take pictures. Corners were cut, but it was not for lack of trying - there just wasn't enough time. I learned a lot from your wedding, which I know might not make you feel any better, but hopefully makes everyone reading this feel better. We always aim for transparency, creativity, and service, and I’m sorry that wasn’t your full experience. Wishing you both the best in your marriage and beyond. Warmly - Ericka Owner, Hartworks FloralA floral dream come true!
Ericka made all my wedding floral dreams come true! I am a wedding planner and from the moment I met her and saw her work, I knew that I wanted Hartworks to be my wedding florist... and I wasn't even engaged yet! Ericka was so communicative and clam throughout my planning process and so reliable. We had a few in-person meetings, which is always important to me - and even though I thought I knew what I wanted, it's sometimes hard to explain your vision. Well, all I can say is she showed up on my wedding day and built the most beautiful bouquet. She understood my vision and inspiration perfectly, and it was even more perfect than I could have ever dreamt up! She really made my ethereal wedding in the forest come to life and I was so happy to have her be a part of my special day! Her attention to detail and attention to personal details made us feel so special. Thank you so much for everything, Love, Mrs. le Roux
