Kanteen

Kanteen was founded by Chef Dinesh & Vishwas — two food lovers whose journey began in the most unexpected place: a badminton court. During the Covid years, Chef Dinesh created a unique 5- course Friday night menu for home delivery. Around the same time, I (Vishwas) was finishing his MBA at Wharton. The menu’s bold flavors and creativity struck a chord so deeply that I dropped my plan to move into finance and instead followed my passion. With our shared love for food, we started Kanteen. What began as a simple idea has grown into one of the Bay Area’s most trusted catering teams, delivering elevated, heartfelt experiences for large events.

At Kanteen, we believe food should celebrate its ingredients—not hide behind heavy spices. Every dish is cooked clean, fresh, and with intention. Our culinary philosophy centers on three pillars: flavor, presentation, and service—each executed with meticulous care. We’re a true one-stop catering partner, offering regional Indian cuisines for ceremonies, creative fusion for sangeets, and true Indian flavors for receptions. Whether plated, family-style, or buffet, we bring every detail together seamlessly. We continually create new dishes and love turning your ideas into a memorable culinary reality.

    Standout Indian and Fusion Catering

    Our guests were blown away by the quality of catering provided by Kanteen at our reception! Chef Dinesh and his team are clearly very skilled at producing delicious food with great presentation. Vishwas’s business is growing and in very high demand, so you may need to be a little patient with them, but they really came through in the end. Highly recommend Kanteen!

    Amazing food and service!!

    We chose Kanteen for our professional event, and this was our third time working with them — they continue to be an outstanding partner. The team is consistently thoughtful, organized, and genuinely invested in getting every detail right. The food was a highlight once again, especially the Old Delhi Chicken and Tres Leches Ras Malai, both of which received rave reviews from our guests. A great experience all around.

    We catered my daughter's wedding functions with Kanteen. They catered for my nephew two years ago so this is second wedding with Kanteen in our family. We catered mediarrian menu on mehndi, next day morning breakfast of jalebi, idli, menduvada. Wedding day lunch was Gujarati authentic menu. Very delicious food. Evening dinner was North Indian flavors. Cocktail hour had fusion. Kanteen offers diversity in food choices. Very flavorful and abundant. I would highly recommend them.

    Vishwas, Chef Dinesh and the onsite team were absolutely amazing. From the tasting to the planning and the final day, the service, communication and attention to detail were top notch. They delivered with uniqueness and full of flavor on a complete Jain friendliy menu.

    Kanteen made all the difference in the wedding ! The food was eclectic, just right for all palates and a treat for the wedding guests. The Pani puri, and Idli fries were a big hit and all the guests were raving about it. The jicama avocado mango tacos were amazingly refreshing and bursting with flavor. All the guests wanted to know who the caterer was !! Our experience with Kanteen and their staff on site was very positive and I strongly recommend their catering services.
