    10/10 DJ

Peter was exceptionally easy to work with. 10/10 planning, communication and organization. He spoke with us and independently coordinated with other vendors and our officiants without ever having to ask us for anything the day of. He followed our suggestions for music and did a great job from there keeping the energy up and dance floor packed. He went above and beyond keeping the vibes high by hanging up our dog posters on his set and adding to the energy. He’s very transparent and SO worth the purchase. We are so grateful! 10/10 recommend. Also he has a great questionnaire to help you guide and organize your day!!

    My dream DJ!!

Peter was SO organized, from the very first meeting we knew he would keep us on track. His communication and pricing is crystal clear. He’s so easy to work with and you can tell he really knows what he’s talking about. He’s truly there to do what he can to make your day go smoothly and beautifully, and he is successful in that. Our dancefloor was packed all night long, including some karaoke and an impromptu sing along. Everything was perfect. We highly recommend the uplighting and pre-ceremony music, it sets the vibe for the evening and was 100% worth it. If we had to do it all again, my first choice would be hiring Peter. Thank you for orchestrating such a beautiful evening for us!!!

    Absolutely Phenomenal, Book Him Immediately!

The moment we chose our venue, booking DJ Peter Naughton was our very next step and we are so glad we did. After reading his stellar reviews, exploring his helpful blog posts, and hearing from the Lincklaen House team how amazing he is, we knew we’d be in good hands. But even with all the high praise, Peter still exceeded every single expectation. His organization blew our minds. He crafted a beautifully detailed wedding timeline that helped us stay on track and calm throughout the planning process. He was proactive, communicative, and so generous with his time and expertise. From coordinating our wedding party’s grand entrance to perfectly trimming down the verses of our first dance songs, Peter made everything feel effortless. He honored every single request and preference we had and then some. His thoughtful approach and seamless behind-the-scenes coordination made the entire day run smoothly. The energy he brought to our reception was unmatched, and the dance floor was never empty. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the music and how talented our DJ was! Peter’s uplighting choices brought our space to life, and his attention to every little detail was something we’ll never forget. He truly cares and that’s what makes him extraordinary. I’m actually writing this the very next morning because he deserves a review this glowing. He was simply the best decision we made. Thank you, Peter, for everything!

Peter knows how to host a party!

Peter did a great job DJing our wedding at Emerson Park Pavilion on 11/9/24! When we were looking for DJs we were able to video chat with Peter to get a feel for his experience and style. He was very communicative and available. Shortly before the big day we chatted with Peter again to go over our song selections, how to trim certain songs that were too long, intros, the ceremony and more. Peter was very helpful in preparation, even sending out audio files of our first dance song that he trimmed down to an ideal 2:30. His planning form was very helpful, too! Peter arrived on time before the ceremony and kept things running smoothly and organized all day. We wanted to spend as much time on the dancefloor as possible, and Peter did a great job with keeping the party going! He played all our requested songs and threw in a couple of more tunes that fit perfectly. It was a fantastic night, and Peter was a big reason why! We would definitely recommend him for your upcoming central NY wedding.

    Amazing Wedding DJ!

Peter was the DJ at our wedding on 9/21/2024, and we cannot say enough good things about him! He was extraordinarily organized (which was so helpful as a Type-A bride), and his planning form brought up items we never would've even considered. When our original venue closed, Peter immediately shifted gears and got to work planning for our new venue. He took the time to edit our first dance and parent dance songs, and even tracked down an Iranian song for us that my husband had requested. And best of all, he kept the dance floor packed all night! We highly recommend him to any couples who are considering a DJ for their wedding.

Callie, Thanks so much for the awesome review! I had a great time helping you and Cameron put together an unforgettable celebration! I'm thrilled to hear you were happy with everything, and I appreciate you sharing some details about the planning process... a great wedding is all in the planning! Thanks again for choosing me as your DJ! - Peter

Yes, I allow clients to pre-request up to 10 "must play" requests for open dance floor time. Any additional requests go on a "nice to have" list, but I often play most (if not all) of those as well. You can also have a "do not play" list. Guest requests are considered, but I only play those that fit with the flow/timing of the event.
Absolutely! For wedding ceremonies, I provide 30 minutes of pre-ceremony music as guests arrive to take their seats, and then I provide wireless mics and music for the ceremony itself. I have several music options couples can choose from for cocktail hour, or you can submit your own requests.
Yes, I carry business liability coverage for all weddings and any other contracted DJ events. If your venue requires proof of insurance, that can be provided upon request. If your venue requires it be named as an "additional insured" on my policy, I can make that happen at no extra charge -- I just need the exact wording they require at least 3 weeks before your wedding.
I typically arrive between 1½ to 3 hours prior to the contracted start time for most of my weddings. Exact arrival time depends on the needs of your event and your venue's load-in procedures.
Yes. My base rate includes DJ and MC services, wireless mics (for the ceremony and for any toasts) and dance floor lighting. For an extra charge, I can provide uplighting to dramatically enhance the entire room. You can see photos of the uplighting in action at https://peterthedj.com/uplighting
My base rate includes travel up to one hour each way between my home in Fayetteville (near Syracuse) and your venue. This includes all venues in Utica and Oswego. For venues *significantly* over an hour each way, travel fees depend on the distance and timeline. When you request a quote at https://peterthedj.com/contact I'll include any travel fees right up front.
Wedding DJ services are not subject to sales tax in New York State.
I aim for a pleasant, upbeat approach, without going "over the top" and sounding fake or gimmicky. But once the dance floor opens, the music takes the lead -- I'll make announcements as needed, but I also respect the fact that you and your guests are there to enjoy the music and each other's company, not to hear a DJ talking every 4 minutes all night.
Overtime is available for $75 per half-hour, payable by cash or credit card. Just remember to check with your venue first: some venues have their own overtime charges, and others do not allow overtime at all. Bear in mind, my regular rate is $50 per half-hour, so if you think you might want a longer party, it's cheaper to buy that extra time up-front rather than on-the-spot.
A signed contract and $500 booking retainer payment are required to officially secure your wedding date on my calendar. The remaining balance is due 15 days before your wedding, but with my online invoicing system, you have the freedom to pay the entire balance at once, or you can make partial payments of any amount on your own schedule.
Nearly all of my bookings are private, invitation-only events. Just as I am sure you would not want me inviting complete strangers to your wedding, it would not be appropriate for me to invite you into somebody else's wedding. However, I'm proud to refer you to the dozens of reviews previous clients have written about my services since 2011. http://peterthedj.com/reviews
See my complete FAQ list at https://peterthedj.com/faq or contact me and I'll be happy to discuss any aspect of my services so you can determine if I would be a good fit for your wedding day vision.
