I’m Skyler Matthias, the Founder and DJ of Gunnison Valley Entertainment. I started GVE in 2023 when I moved to the beautiful Gunnison Valley. Before launching this company, I honed my craft as a DJ with Complete Weddings and Events in St. Louis, MO, and Crown Entertainment in Little Rock, AR. Now based in Gunnison, CO, I love traveling all over Colorado to bring unforgettable music and moments to weddings and events JUST LIKE YOURS! Thank you for stopping by to learn more about GVE.     Wedding Couple

    Working with Skylar from Gunnison Valley Entertainment was a breeze from start to finish. His communication was always so easy and exciting, which made the entire planning process feel stress-free. When our reception hit some bumps—medical emergencies and timeline shifts—Skylar stepped in without hesitation and adapted on the fly so our night could keep going. He stayed calm and laid-back the whole time, keeping the dance floor packed all night long. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does and cares about making sure his clients and guests have a great time. We had zero issues and would give him a 10/10—seriously the best choice we could have made.

    Exceeded my Expectations -

    I knew when I booked Gunnison Valley Entertainment that I wouldn’t have anything to worry about when it came to my wedding ceremony or reception, but they truly blew me away snd went above and beyond! I didn’t have a wedding planner or day of coordinator – so I knew having a DJ that could take charge and get my guests where they needed to be was essential, and Skylar and Mia were that and more. From a flawless ceremony and speeches to getting all the guests on the dance floor, to playing all my random favorite songs at the end of the night. They really thought of each little touch, whether it’s fun yard games, making sure you have a moment after the ceremony, bringing you a drink while you sign your marriage license, having a backup bubble gun, my wedding would not have been the same without GVE. THANK YOU SYLER AND MIA!!!

    DJ Maria is the bomb

    Maria kept the vibes high all night and was not cheesy at all. We had some rain come in and she shifted the dance floor and music to the tent so we could keep the party going, then it cleared up, and she shifted back. Shout out to DJ Maria. 10/10 would recommend her and Skyler at GVE!

    Stay local and hire GVE!

    My wife and I used Gunnison Valley Entertainment for our wedding in Lake City, CO in August 2025, and have nothing but good things to share about our experience. From the moment we reached out to Skyler, the communication was exceptional, the service was extremely friendly, and GVE did everything we needed to have the most special day. Our wedding was in a more remote part of the state but that was never an issue and GVE was able to accommodate all of our requests before the big day. They were also up front and transparent about pricing, which was very appreciated! Maria handled our ceremony sound and was the DJ for our reception, and we loved her! She did a great job making sure everything was audible and flowed smoothly, and brought great energy during the reception! She also took some videos and picutres during the reception and was kind enough to send them to us afterwards. If you are looking for a DJ for any event in the area, do not look any further than GVE. If we ever have the opportunity to hire a DJ in this area again, we will absolutely be repeat customers. Thank you again Skyler and Maria!

Only if you want me to! I love to get a vibe from your people to see what everyone is looking for, but I'm very careful to not play any dance floor killers, don't worry :)
We like to get there at least 1.5-2hrs before the wedding/event. This allows us time to set up without rushing and make sure we can get to know vendors that might be playing a role. We will be ready when music needs to be played!
To secure your date, we recommend booking 9-12 months in advance, especially for popular wedding seasons. However, we’re happy to accommodate last-minute bookings if availability allows.
Yes! About a month before your event, we schedule a detailed pre-event consultation to go over your vision, timeline, and preferences. During this call, we finalize your music selections, key announcements, and any special moments you’d like to include. This ensures everything is perfectly tailored to your day.
We pride ourselves on reading the crowd and playing the right songs to match the energy in the room. Whether it’s keeping the dance floor packed or dialing it back for a more intimate vibe, we adjust in real-time to ensure everyone has an amazing time.
DJ services focus on music selection, mixing, and entertainment, while MC services include guiding the flow of the event, making announcements, and keeping everything on schedule. Our packages combine both for a seamless experience.
We arrive early to set up all necessary equipment, including sound systems and lighting, and ensure everything is tested and ready before guests arrive. After the event, we’ll break down the equipment quickly and discreetly. It usually takes about an hour before the event to set everything up and we will be out in under a half hour, if necessary.
With our Ridgeline package, we will put music anywhere you and your guests are, no questions asked! :) We got you!
