Awarded Best of Zola
Just let me START by saying, I am a true customer who hired DJ Jeremy B for my daughter's wedding at Walnut Hall Estate in Carrollton, IL on November 16, 2024. Not a friend, not a relative, just a mom hiring a DJ. I have not been paid in any way for this review... it is 100% our honest experience. My daughter had been to a prior wedding at that venue and loved how Jeremy kept the guests dancing so he was unanimously their choice! Forward to the planning stages... my future son-in-law is a fan of Marvel and DC Comics, particularly Batman. My daughter had an idea of playing "The Batman" by Michael Giacchino for her wedding march and even chose a wedding dress that had a cape to give it a classy "Gotham" vibe. The programs were Newspaper "Breaking News" announcements also with a Gotham vibe. DJ Jeremy took that idea and CREATED a remix for the wedding march. I knew nothing of this until my daughter called and said, "MOM!!! You have to hear this... the DJ created my walk-in song and it is PERFECT! I cried it was so perfect!". She drove to our house so we could listen to it on her phone... OMG AHMAZING! The evening of the wedding, the ceremony started and after the attendants (all 8 sets) walked in, the doors shut... then a quiet drum build up to the doors swinging open to this big boom of a climax of the remix with my husband and myself walking her down the aisle. I WAS SO MOVED and it was SO PERFECT... I just can't even tell you. Jeremy is SO VERY TALENTED... he KNOWS the "feel" you're going for and NAILS it! Not to mention he's got this handlebar moustache that is just edgy and super cool. Our Groomsmen were commenting, "I want that stache!" You want the BEST DJ?... hire Jeremy! You will NOT be sorry...and if you do...ask to hear that song!! It is just crazy good.

We used Eivan's for both engagement photos and our wedding and couldn't be happier. They are wonderful about asking for your input and making sure you are truly happy with what you are getting. The photographers and videographers are the perfect mixture of professional and casual/friendly so that you are comfortable. We loved Rachael H for engagement photos, and Heather G (photo) and Dmytro L (video) for our wedding. They also actually care about you and the event itself, starting with asking you about your story. We got both a photographer, videographer, and engagement photos for a great bundle price, which was so helpful. Customer service is also fantastic about answering questions thoroughly and quickly. After booking and after the events, they send you information about what to expect, etc. I did quite a but of research into photography companies, and I would highly highly recommend Eivan's!

More than a decade ago, two sisters - knew there had to be a better way to allow talented photographers and videographers to focus on what they do best -- create gorgeous art -- while providing couples with better support in the planning process. Together, they created an all-inclusive, stress-free environment where couples can choose from talented local photographers and videographers and work with a small team of planning experts equipped and eager to make everything a success. With the pressure gone, you can truly enjoy your big day. Relax and rest assured that all the emotional and moments will be documented with unmatched quality.

Erin and the entire OLAS team were an absolute dream from start to finish. From our very first phone call to receiving the final gallery, everyone was kind, professional, and so helpful. Erin was a calming, joyful presence all day long – giving gentle direction exactly when we needed it and somehow making us feel like total naturals in front of the camera. Every single photo is breathtaking. She captured the giggles, the happy tears, the little glances – every moment that made the day feel like pure magic. Steve and I keep saying we’ve never smiled so much in our lives, and now we get to relive it forever because Erin caught our love so perfectly. If you’re getting married: book OLAS. 10/10. Marry your best friend and let OLAS capture it. We’re obsessed and will recommend them to everyone we know! Thank you, thank you, thank you for making our wedding day even more unforgettable.

Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers

4.9

  • Florist
  • Starts at $350
  • Serves Wataga, IL

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

Awarded Best of Zola
This is my second experience with Flower Moxie, and it was just as good if not better than the first time around. I did the flowers for my friends’ kids’ weddings and used Flower Moxie as our primary source, especially for the more unusual flowers. We used another source for some of the filler flowers that was very inexpensive (starts with a C and ends with an o…) and the flowers were inexpensive and plentiful, but not as exciting as the ones available here, the quality was not the same, but the biggest difference is the customer service. We had a few issues with the flowers (I think it would be surprising not to, based on how many and what kind we ordered), and Alexa, Luis, and Mariale were AMAZING with their immediate and helpful support. They rushed out replacements that were perfect, and worked with us to make sure we were 100% happy with everything. Huge shout out to their team - it is very stressful in the days leading up to the big event, and they took a big weight off. If you are unsure about what to get, I highly recommend going with their packages based on color — their recommendations for flowers and amounts are spot on. The videos showing you how to build everything are incredibly helpful and delightfully snarky. I highly recommend!!

Pedro and his team did a FANTASTIC job with our wedding photos and they were an absolute joy to work with!! This started while planning for the wedding as Pedro was very flexible in setting up meetings where we discussed logistics and specific pictures we wanted captured the day of. He also recommended the Fragrance Garden at the Morton Arboretum for wedding photos, which turned out beautifully. On the day of the wedding, Pedro and his team were very thorough and captured all of the special moments of the day! They were positive, professional, and efficient in capturing photos for our large bridal party and family. Going with Albany Capture for our wedding photos was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions we made for the wedding. We also want to give a shout-out to Josh who actually captured our engagement photos and was one of the photographers on the wedding day too! He's an incredible photographer and it was quite special to have capture the entire journey!

The team of two photographers and a videographer was amazing, capturing so many special moments that will forever stay with us from our wedding day. We were especially grateful that they were able to capture our private final dance, which means the world to us. After our wedding, when our oldest son was leaving for bootcamp, Sean thoughtfully sent us additional photos that had been taken during the celebration, which are now cherished keepsakes for our family. The photographer, videographer, and photo booth was absolutely perfect and our guests had a blast! However, even after going through the work of submitting a Spotify play list and adding do not play songs or DJ played the wrong version of our first dance song (I checked and we had the correct version listed on our playlist we sent over), he also played songs from our do not play list to the point I, the bride, came over to ask if he had the wrong list. He admitted he was using songs from the do not play list as he was not paying attention. I would also like to note, though our wedding was more casual, our DJ was dressed in a sloppy manner. His shirt was half untucked from his pants, there were stains on his shirt and pants. Besides a few hiccups, direct Entertainment was wonderful to work with!

VIDART

  • Photographer
  • Photojournalistic style

VIDART's chief photographer studied at Columbia for film and U of I for foreign languages and philosophy, and went to Loyola for graduate studies. He worked at Lyric Opera of Chicago filming operas before joining VIDART. He is the author of the college textbook Cinematography 101, and has worked with John de Lancie (Q in Star Trek: TNG) on the science documentary The Reality of Time. Michael has also worked on the sets of over a dozen other feature films. He has handled the photography and videography for several thousand weddings and events, including work for clients such as Microsoft, Amazon, Macy’s, Sysco and more.

We hired VIDART for a gala fundraiser in Davenport and we were blown away by how emotional the photos felt. He got shots of guests crying during speeches and laughing during the silent auction (I didn’t even see him take those). My only complaint is I wish we booked more video coverage because the recap was so good. Would def hire again.

The Faux Bouquets

5.0

  • Florist
  • Starts at $175
  • Serves Wataga, IL

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.

Awarded Best of Zola
We were so delighted to use The Faux Bouquets for our wedding. We ended up having a family emergency that forced us to downsize the size and budget of the wedding just a few months before the wedding, and the team at TFB were so accommodating and helped us to find a solution that still allowed us to use their flowers in our (modified) ceremony. We were a bit concerned about the flowers getting smushed in shipping, but they arrived looking absolutely STUNNING and with plenty of time before the big day. Even my gardener of a grandma couldn't tell they weren't real flowers! We were so happy with how everything looked on the day, and in pictures they look just as lovely. Can't recommend The Faux Bouquets enough! There's no visual difference compared to real bouquets and they are much more affordable. The last big selling point that I would advise future brides, and I did not really consider this, is that because the flowers don't wilt, we could set the decor out the night before--which is a LIFESAVER to not have to worry about on the special day! Anything that will save you time and stress on the day of the wedding is a big win!
