And, I think that’s pretty cool. I love traveling everywhere and anywhere, talking with my hands, buying plants (and attempting to keep them alive), and spending as much time as I can with my loved ones. I have lived in Boston, Paris, and New York City, and am now lucky enough to call Charleston home, while also still traveling the world for my clients. You can usually find me on my back porch in downtown Charleston, right next to my favorite little park.

“tldr: Jessica is amazing and I don’t think you can go wrong with her if this is the style of photos you like I had a lot of difficulty picking a photographer as I’m pretty picky with photos. I knew I wanted something bright and light, with kind of a whimsical or ethereal vibe, but it was really hard finding the style until I came across the “fine art” style. Jessica’s name came up while researching this style and I decided to reach out to her among a few other fine art photographers. I definitely hoped talks would go well with Jessica as the others I contacted ended up either not responding or were wildly out of my budget. Pre-Planning: Jessica was wonderful throughout this process. She promptly responded to my emails and answered questions clearly. I never felt like I was left in the dark for any part of the process. When I sent her the timeline of the ceremony/reception, she quickly came up with a timeline to slot in all the photos to be taken ahead of time at the location (We had access to the venue for a little over an hour prior to the ceremony). She also asked for a list of family photos that we wanted to take. This made it very easy at the wedding as she could call out people’s name to make sure everyone that was supposed to be in the pictures, were in the pictures. Jessica also sent over a list of ideas for detail shots and explained she could do this ahead of time. We didn’t want extra pictures of these and decided against it, however, I still thought it was very thoughtful of her to offer. Wedding Day: I loved her energy at the wedding. She was very calm and felt very competent. She directed my husband and I throughout the pictures, showing us poses etc. During family and wedding party photos, even though we had many bodies to fit in the frame in quite a few pictures, she led us through them with ease and the entire experience was very stress free (or as stress free as can be at a wedding lol). The venue was quite dim at specific locations, but the final results did not reflect that at all. The pictures were bright and did not look like they were taken in the dark at all. (This is a little off topic but I loved the little apron with pockets she wore for her equipment. So cute) I’m not sure when Jessica had the time, but there were pictures around the venue which were so beautiful. I definitely feel like the day was captured through the pictures. Post Wedding: Jessica sent us a sneak peak 2 days after the wedding containing 23 pictures. They turned out great and were beautiful. You can see examples on her website so I won’t elaborate, but they really are that good. The full gallery was sent almost a month after the wedding (minus 2 days) with instructions on purchasing prints or an album attached. The full download contained 650ish files, including the sneak peek pictures. Half of which were black and white, so this matched up pretty perfectly with Jessica’s estimation of the amount of photos when we spoke in the pre-planning stage.”

Anne worked with us on engagement photos, so we had the chance to get a sense of her style and personality, and it was love at first photo. Leading up to our wedding, Anne worked closely with our planner to make sure that our timeline, photo locations, and shot list were in perfect order. She worked tirelessly to create a rain plan that eased my panic when we couldn't take photos inside the hotel. On day of, Anne & her assistant arrived promptly at our bridal suite and quickly got to work doing flat lays, detail shots, etc. before moving seamlessly into first look and group shots. Her sense of humor kept our group laughing and made sure the groom didn't get tired of photos. She even helped carry my shoes and got my husband water when he lost his voice. It was like having a close friend at our wedding to cheer us on. Of course, the photos were incredible! Our preview was full of gems, I can't choose my favorite one. I can't imagine having to pick for the full album! She captured our love for each other and made sure we had a good time the whole day. tl;dr Hire Anne because she is very talented photographer and her team is fabulous, and also hire Anne because she is an amazing person. She will make your wedding day even dreamier.”

“Hiring Katie for our wedding photos was our best decision! We would hire her again in a heartbeat. For the entire year-and-a-half that my fiancé (now husband) were engaged, Katie met with us periodically on the phone to check in about specific topics such as scheduling or a family photos “shoot list”. We got our initial response within a couple days of sending our inquiry, then met on Zoom that week to meet her. She asked about our relationship, our personalities, etc. to get to know us, which was great and made everything more personal. It was easy to book a second shooter through Katie to get more photos, since she will find and contact another professional photographer for you, which is a step out of the way while you’re busy wedding planning! Our wedding day/photos being taken: What we loved about Katie is that her photography style is that her photos don’t feel awkward or too posed, and they feel more journalistic. There will of course be lots of formal portraits of the couple and wedding party, but Katie does an amazing job to get genuine smiles and laughs out of everyone. She is super funny, kind, and down-to-earth. Katie got along great with the wedding party and made everyone feel a lot more relaxed on our wedding day. Photographers are such an important part of the wedding day and keep the day going smoothly and on-time, and Katie did an exceptional job. Our edited photos: My husband and I were in LOVE with our edited photos from both our wedding and our engagement photoshoot. I am usually not the biggest fan of photos of myself, but when I looked through our wedding photos, I loved every single one. We immediately put together photo albums for our parents and had such a hard time picking our favorites! We would put all 1000+ photos in there if we could. I still look at these photos almost daily, and can’t wait to have nicely framed ones in our house. Professionalism: Lastly Katie was extremely professional. She wrote a contract, kept notes of everything so that nothing was forgotten, and was always on time or early for everything. You could tell she really cares about every single client, and puts the work into getting to know each couple far in advance before their wedding day. Paperboys is a boutique wedding film/photo agency located on the ‘skirtz of Washington D.C. We started down this regal road in 2014 and we have the mountain of harddrives to prove it! We’re a collaborative team of filmmakers and photographers who live for making amazing things for the world’s most friggin’ amazing couples. When we started this business on a wing and a prayer, we quickly realized that working alone is not a ton of fun - some would say, it’s for the birds. So, we grew our team and that’s when things really started to come to life.

“Hiring Nate with the Paperboys team might have been the best decision we made during our entire wedding planning process. My husband and I are (very picky) creatives by nature and trade so we knew that we wanted to be very intentional about our choice of photographer for our special day. Our venue was a historic hotel that requires you to work with one of their select partners, something we initially were a little hesitant about due to its inherent limitations. Most partners listed had very technically beautiful photos but nothing that excited us creatively. Until we saw their most recent partner addition: Paperboys. We loved the playfulness, talent, and imagination that was deeply valued with the team and quickly connected with our photographer Nate both creatively and socially. It was apparent that he truly loved his craft and was easy to communicate our vision with, always making sure to ask helpful questions and take the time to study our provided resource materials. Without prompting or extra charge, he also opted to bring his own film camera to snap some artsy film shots on the actual day, an above and beyond move that shows how much he genuinely just loves what he does. The finished photos absolutely exceeded expectations. His signature style we loved shone through while also managing to capture the exact essence of what we were hoping for stylistically. And as someone who specifically struggles with body confidence and anxiety, he was able to make me feel safe by providing a calm presence and plenty of posing guidance. This allowed me to truly just exist and enjoy the day, which is something I genuinely wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to manage, and therefore the most wonderful gift in and of itself. TLDR: Just hire Paperboys already and thank me later! You’re welcome.”
