About Crystal V Photography

Crystal V Photography

Owner

Hi! I'm Crystal VanAntwerpen. I am based out of Muskegon, Michigan, and I do portrait sessions and weddings around West Central Michigan. I started photographing portraits and weddings in 2012 and currently photograph a wedding almost every weekend during the summer and fall months.

My shooting style for weddings is mostly photojournalistic with minimal posing, other than for the bridal party, family photos, and some of the wedding couple. I like to keep things as natural looking as possible, although I love when photos are colorful and lean towards popping colors, when it comes to post-processing. Often I hear from others that they’d describe my style as “rich and colorful, yet not fake looking”. I love lakeside weddings and weddings that involve your pets!

Fun and great to work with

Crystal was was very easy to work with and our photos turned out amazing. We got preview photos a few days after our wedding and the rest a few weeks later.

Loved my experience working with Crystal!

Crystal is professional and classy in both her photography and personality. The images she creates are magazine-worthy and multiple family members and guests have commented on just how impressed they were. Moreover, she's a calming presence on the wedding day and quietly documents the most important moments in a way that feels natural and authentic. Thanks, Crystal! :)

    Great Photography Team

We worked a destination wedding for them and they were awesome to work with! The venue didn't have the best lighting but they were able to create magic for our client!

Yes and you have a couple of different options of how you'd like to be posed. Relaxed and natural posing: Involves less attention to the angles of specific body parts but more attention given to genuine emotion and smiles. Formal posing: This involves more standing still and taking direction as to where to angle your chin, arms, hips, etc. The trade off is this posing does take much longer.
It depends on your wedding size and the package booked. My second photographer acts as not only a secondary photographer but also an assistant. You get more angles and photos overall with a second as well. I may sometimes also have an assistant along if there is not a second photographer, but it depends on the wedding and the package booked.
I have been photographing weddings since 2012 and I haven't had to miss any of them yet (knocking on wood!!!). If I have a minor illness I'm still there, either masked or keeping my distance, with a second photographer if possible. I have an extensive network of wedding photographer friends as well who can step in in an emergency situation.
Definitely. All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they are consistent with the rest of the weddings I deliver. Any additional retouching gets sent out to a retoucher for an additional fee.
There are a lot of things that can be done in photoshop. You've seen the photos of the dinosaurs chasing the bridal party right? Chances are, whatever you are asking for can most likely be done. So it depends on what you want added in or changed and you would be quoted per photo to make any of those changes, for the time and labor involved beyond the basic service.
I've done weddings at lots of different kinds of venues all over Michigan. So even if I haven't done your specific venue, I've probably done something extremely similar to it. I know how to handle everything from a bright and sunny day to a dark and rainy one, or even a freezing cold, windy, nighttime wedding in almost total darkness. I've got you covered.
I have a couple of different answers for different reasons. I LOVE lakeside/park/outdoor weddings because I just love being outside and getting photos of you in our natural world. However, I also LOVE more upscale weddings in ballrooms or estates. I like capturing the "scene" or both of these environments and love creating a little bit of drama with lighting, especially in a beautiful ballroom.
Lets just say I'm always down for travelling. I've done weddings in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and I've even done a wedding in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Go ahead and let me know where you are planning on getting married and I will absolutely create a custom package!
I send out 10-20 sneak previews within a few days of the wedding. The rest are typically delivered within 4-6 weeks of the wedding date. You may also purchase priority editing services and your photos will be delivered within 10 days of the wedding.
I would LOVE to photograph a mountaintop wedding! I'm a little obsessed with the mountains in West Virginia & Virginia and I'd love to do a wedding there someday! Otherwise I'd love to do a beach wedding at a beach house somewhere along the Atlantic. Lets make either of these happen!
