How should we cut our wedding cake?

Traditionally, you’d do a ceremonial cutting first, often holding hands on the knife. The caterer then takes the cake away and cuts it into slices to distribute to guests. If you’re slicing it up yourselves, take apart the tiers and cut them into small rectangles. Remember to wrap and freeze the top layer for your anniversary!

How should we transport our wedding cake?

Very carefully! Ideally, your cake will be delivered by your bakery, which should have plenty of experience transporting cakes. You can also purchase special boxes made to protect the tiers.

When should we order our wedding cake?

Our reception was outdoors and there was some concern about our cake being in the sun for several hours, which required some coordinating with the venue about when the cake should be delivered. Natasha took it upon herself to talk directly with the venue in the week leading up to the wedding, insisting that it was not something she wanted us to have to worry about, and for that I was so grateful! Our cake was delicious, and we got many compliments on it. Prior to the wedding, we'd ordered a tasting box from her, and all six of the classic flavors we sampled were excellent. We spent months trying to figure out how to make it happen without success when, miraculously, we stumbled upon Twin Treats on Zola. We reached out to Amy, who responded within hours. We were in Nashville for the weekend for wedding planning, and Amy threw together a tasting box for us with barely any notice. Every single dessert we sampled was scrumptious - it was difficult to choose only a handful for our wedding reception! Shannon was one of the most easy people to work with, from scheduling our tasting, to mock-ups of the cake vision, to payment. She made it so easy to make sure our dog was on the cake! She is in constant communication with you, which I sincerely appreciated. I never had to worry about our cake making it to where it needed to be or looking perfect! She also made the most delicious cupcakes for the grooms cake and was very flexible on how we would have them displayed. She's the best! Would definitely recommend Shannon for any cake you might need, especially your wedding cake! 3”
