Walt's Hitching Post is a popular restaurant and private venue space in Ft. Wright, KY, minutes from downtown Cincinnati and CVG Airport. Walt’s sets the stage for couples to host an unforgettable celebration. The building, was used as a hunting lodge for Western & Southern executives in the early 1900s before being restored in 1942 by Walt Ballanger, who made his mark in the community by serving delicious smokehouse ribs. In 1958, Bill Melton purchased and successfully ran the business for 50 years. Today, Walt’s, under new ownership since 2012, continues to welcome people with a unique equestrian theme by preserving Walt's rich history and traditions. There are many photos of the late Melton's prized thoroughbreds. Walt's also showcases original exposed log walls and a cozy stone fireplace in the main dining room. Outside, the property has colorful landscaping, Walt’s Rib Smokehouse and stunning entry doors. Walt's has 4 private dining spaces that seat from 10 to 100 guests.

Step through the doors of this classic federal-style home into a historic picture book. From the white oak floors to the handmade glass panes, experience life in a bygone era. The Inn was conceived in 2007, but this beautiful home dates back to 1840. Built by a southern family whose son-in-law would eventually march by the estate on his way to fight in the Civil War. It has since served as a dairy, a school, and is now the center of The Meadow Lake Equestrian Center, our on-site multi-discipline full-service equestrian facility.
