The 1830 Wedding Barn, nestled in the hills of Oxford, Maine, is a historic venue where rustic charm, natural beauty, and timeless New England character come together. Built in 1830 and restored in 2015, the barn retains its original hand-hewn beams, weathered barnboard, and charming details while offering a warm, inviting setting for celebrations. Today, the property is also home to our flower farm, where we grow seasonal blooms to create beautiful, farm-to-table florals for weddings and special events. We also source from fellow Maine growers whenever possible, bringing the beauty of locally grown flowers into every celebration. Surrounded by gardens, fields, and the original orchard, the property offers a peaceful backdrop for ceremonies, photographs, and unforgettable gatherings. Together, the wedding barn and flower farm create a truly unique experience, where every celebration is thoughtfully woven into the land- from the flowers in the fields to the blooms on your tables.

The 1830 Wedding Barn is an absolute MUST for a wedding venue. I have nothing but incredible things to say. The location is beautiful and private, the barn has enough room to fit everything we needed (we had around 100 guests), there are beautiful spots to take photos, and they offer florals as part of a package, which saved so much time (and they were beautiful). Not to mention, the owners are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Not only did they provide a beautiful place, but their willingness to help out allowed my husband and I to enjoy the day. They decorated for us, organized stuff with the vendors, helped with cleaning up, etc. I would choose this venue over and over again, and suggest it to anyone looking to get married!

Nonesuch River Brewing is a gem for a wedding venue! Their event team is top notch. Heather was our wedding coordinator, and she was phenomenal and so responsive. Her positivity, excitement, and attention to detail for our wedding showed through and she was an absolute joy to work with. I never thought wedding planning would be so easy until we met with Heather and the Nonesuch team. She made the entire planning process stress-free and fun! Heather and the event team made sure every detail was perfect for our wedding day. The venue itself is gorgeous. All the natural wood inside makes it so warm and welcoming. We immediately felt like we were home the second we toured the venue, and we knew this was the place we wanted to get married. Every single Nonesuch team member we met with was so nice and treated us like a member of their family. Our entire day went off without a hitch. Our guests had a blast and raved about the food, the venue, and the special beer we brewed with the Nonesuch team for our wedding! Everyone was so impressed. Heather and the event staff went above and beyond for us, and our day was better than we could have ever imagined. We couldn’t recommend them enough!

You'll discover spaces with exposed brick walls and beautifully restored wood beams dating back to Portland's maritime glory days. The Portland Club offers a Federal-style mansion experience with a grand ballroom featuring original chandeliers. It's fully wheelchair accessible and within walking distance to boutique hotels where your guests can stay comfortably.

What Should You Know About Seasonal Considerations in Portland?

Portland weddings reach their peak from June through September when harbor temperatures average a comfortable 70°F. November leads for venue inquiries as couples lock in those prime summer dates 14+ months ahead. You might consider a fall wedding to showcase Maine's spectacular foliage or save 30-40% on venue fees with a January through March celebration despite the cooler temperatures that come with New England winters.

Which Portland, ME Venues Excel for Specific Needs?

For accessibility you'll want to check out venues like The Portland Club The Portland Sheraton at Sable Oaks and Westin Portland Harborview. They offer full accessibility with elevators and smooth pathways so all your guests can move around comfortably throughout your celebration. If you're planning to include remote guests beyond basic streaming look for venues that can support multi-camera setups and real-time messaging platforms. This allows your virtual attendees to truly engage with your special day rather than just passively watching from afar.

How Early Should You Book Your Portland Venue?

Most couples in Portland secure their venues about 14 months (425 days) before their wedding date. You'll need even more lead time for waterfront venues which often book 16-18 months ahead for those prime July and August dates. November sees the highest number of venue inquiries especially for summer celebrations with guest lists between 150-200 people so plan accordingly if you have your heart set on a specific Portland location.
