Awarded Best of Zola
Having VMG at our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. From the first conversation, everything just felt easy and natural. No pressure, no awkward posing, just someone who understood what we wanted and knew how to capture it. Our day at Tops’l Farm was full of little moments that mattered to us, and they caught all of them. The quiet first look with my dad, the ceremony under the apple tree, the dog in a tux, the laughter during the shoe game, nothing felt forced, and nothing was missed. They blended in when they needed to, stepped up when it counted, and delivered photos and video that feel true to us. Looking back, it doesn’t feel like a wedding production, it feels like our day, the way we remember it. We’re so thankful we found them.

I’m here to make your big day something to remember for a lifetime. Whether you are having a large scale black tux event or a small intimate garden wedding, I am here to bring your vision to life. Jenna Cavanaugh Photography
Rating: 5.0 (22 reviews)
Portland, ME
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $5,000

Natural, documentary, photojournalistic. Real, raw, candid. We’re not going for any stiff prom poses here. I like to capture the day as it is and to document it as it unfolds. I never want to force anything, but I step in and direct where needed. Being in front of the camera isn’t my favorite thing either. I will be here to guide you and prompt you the whole way, I promise.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience than working with Jenna Cavanaugh Photography. We found Jenna through glowing online reviews, and she still managed to surpass our already high expectations. Her photographs are stunning-- each one tells its own story, capturing pure emotion in a way that truly brings the moments to life. Jenna was professional, easy-going, and made both our engagement session and wedding day feel relaxed and fun. Her turnaround on our sneak peek wedding photos was incredibly quick, and the sneak peak album she delivered could have easily been our entire wedding day collection! From start to finish, Jenna felt like another best friend in the crowd. The experience was unforgettable, and choosing her was without a doubt the best decision we made for our wedding memories.

Bethany and Dan Photography
Rating: 5.0 (12 reviews)
Portland, ME
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $5,600

Our first kiss was on the beach, under a star-filled sky, on my favorite island, only home to shells, bioluminescent creatures, and wild horses. Soon after, as two very young humans (21 and 23), we were married. As newlyweds we set off on an adventure, kayaking from Maine to Key West. On that trip, we realized how much we valued spending all our time together and being in charge of our schedule. This business is how we live out that dream.

We could not have imagined better photographers for our wedding day! We met them to get engagement pictures and we had so much fun- we were so worried about being awkward but they made us feel comfortable! And for the wedding day, they got the best shots and were so involved in the wedding without seeming like they were in the way. We got so many compliments on them day of and especially after seeing their work! Highly highly recommend them!!

Savage Wedding Co.
Rating: 5.0 (10 reviews)
Portland, ME
  • Fine art style
  • Starts at $5,000

Savage Wedding Co. is for couples who want their wedding to feel like themselves — not a performance, not a production, and not something they have to manage all day. I work with a balance of structure and flexibility: enough direction to keep things moving, and enough space for moments to unfold without forcing them. I don’t chase perfection or try to smooth out every edge. Some moments are quiet. Some are awkward. Some don’t fit neatly into a highlight reel — and that’s usually where the honest stuff lives. I don’t rush past those moments or reshape them to look like something else. I let things be.

My boyfriend hired Robert to do a surprise proposal and engagement shoot and it was perfect! Robert listened to everything we wanted to capture and made our dream come true! We got the photos the day after and I was able to relive that beautiful day again and again. Robert does amazing work and is such a nice and fun guy to have take your photos. If you’re hesitant, don’t be. Book him!!

Portland, ME

I’m Michelle, a Portland, Maine based wedding and couples photographer. I grew up in a small town in Connecticut, spent my college years and 20s in Boston, moved to New York City with my husband and now have found my way back to New England. I worked for eight years in event planning before going full-time with my photography business. I’m grateful for those eight years because they taught me so much that I’ve carried into managing my own small business. Beyond photography, I am an avid reader, love long bike rides, prefer the Monday crosswords, enjoy woodsy day hikes, and am always finding the nearest bookstore when we travel.

On the day of the wedding, the photographers seamlessly integrated themselves, making us feel special and allowing us to focus on ourselves, knowing that all the important moments were being beautifully captured in the background. They were also extremely professional, working through the family photos in a structured yet clear and communicative way that made the photo session truly enjoyable. Hi ya’ll! I’m Nat. I’m a southerner who’s recently moved to New England. I am thrilled to be a photographer and part of making memories with you! There is something truly special about being the person who creates lasting stories to share. Some of my favorite things include espresso tonics, thunderstorms, and bookstores. As a photographer, I live for the fleeting moments of light and stories. I do my best to capture those moments with my cameras, and I find great joy in doing so.

Picture Aimee
Rating: 5.0 (4 reviews)
Portland, ME
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $2,100

Hey! I'm Aimee, a film photographer based in Portland, Maine. I work primarily with film as a way of slowing down and paying attention. Film shapes my approach — intuitive and intentional — creating space for imperfection, inspiration and play. My work is grounded in documentation rather than direction. I follow what’s unfolding, offering gentle guidance only when needed, allowing the day to flow naturally.

We were looking for a more photojournalistic, slice-of-life style photographer with a bit of a vintage flair for our Maine Camp Wedding, Aimee was exactly what we were looking for! Aimee captured the joy and beauty of our day, the gorgeous scenery, and many artful shots of all of the details that made our wedding special. Aimee was organized, communicated well and thoroughly both in the lead up to the wedding and day-of. Aimee was so sweet and made us feel very comfortable, letting us lead the way, but gently guiding us when needed. If you are looking for a more relaxed, artistic and organic wedding photography experience, look no further!

We hired Emily for our August 2025 wedding and could not be happier with our decision. Emily was absolutely amazing to work with and just added such a beautiful presence at our wedding. She was thoughtful and supportive of our needs and wishes, and helped to protect us from some of the family chaos going on, but also was fun and upbeat which matched our vibe perfectly. Even some of our guests told us they had noticed how sweet and fun she was! And then we got our sneak-peak photos back a few days after the wedding. THEY WERE AMAZING! More than anything we could have ever dreamed of - she and Emily #2 (2nd shooter) are so talented and amazing at what they do, it's just incredible. I never thought that we could have such beautiful photos of us as a couple and our wedding day - they tell the story of us, our relationship, and our beautiful wedding through photography. We are soo happy we made the investment to have Emily at our wedding - 10/10, could not recommend her more highly as an artist or as a human being. We love you Emily! Thank you so much.

Caroline Captures Media
Rating: 5.0 (2 reviews)
Portland, ME
  • Classic style
  • Starts at $3,750

We’re Caroline and Nermin, the husband-and-wife team behind Caroline Captures Media. Our story began in Bar Harbor, where we first met while working along the coast. It didn’t take long for Maine’s landscapes, communities, and coastal beauty to become a place we deeply connected with and eventually came to call home. Nermin grew up in Montenegro along the Adriatic Sea, so Maine’s rugged shoreline and maritime culture felt immediately familiar. Our shared connection to coastal places and the outdoors has shaped not only our lives, but also the way we see and document weddings.

We were so happy with Caroline Captures Media from start to finish. Their communication was quick and professional, making the whole process easy and stress-free. On our wedding day, they went above and beyond to help us get the best shots and made sure we felt comfortable in front of the camera. They were willing to capture any extra photos we wanted without hesitation. The quality of their work is incredible and the value we got was honestly amazing. We would not hesitate to recommend Caroline Captures Media to any couple looking for a photographer.

I believe pictures shouldn’t be painful. I want you to feel special, happy, gorgeous, and well-cared-for throughout your photography adventure, but most of all I want you to have fun. A relaxed couple makes an even more beautiful couple on that most important of days, and I will go above and beyond for my couples to ensure that is exactly what happens. I’m not just a photographer on your wedding day: I’m a friend.

I've never been comfortable in front of a camera and our engagement shoot was a big point of anxiety for me. Within 5 minutes, we were laughing and completely relaxed. It resulted in beautiful photos. Between that time and the wedding, we had developed such a friendship that she was more of a guest than a vendor. Her creativity and eye were just incredible. Our photos and photo book are amazing. We'd hire her again and again and again.

My approach is prepared, intentional, and you-centric. It begins with a face-to-face conversation, where I learn what excites you, what feels important, and how you want your elopement to unfold. Photography is an intimate collaboration, and your comfort and confidence are essential. I’m attentive without being intrusive, providing calm guidance so your day feels natural, unrushed, and grounded.

Gabriel is a true professional. I felt so confident in his competence leading up to and during the wedding and it allowed me to fully be in the moment. Katie Arnold Photography
Rating: 5.0 (1 review)
Portland, ME

One of my favorite parts about this job is watching confidence grow right before the lens. When couples go from, “we’re going to be hard to photograph, we’re so awkward.” to “ no way! That’s us?” my heart could explode every time! Because what is on my camera is exactly what I see in you. It isn’t “you’re so talented!” or “that’s an amazing camera!” no, no. It’s simply you with the one you feel most comfortable with and who fills your heart and soul as no one or thing can. That my friend is genuine love in its most simplistic and powerful form. And it’s what I capture best. :)

After doing much research, I was blessed to stumble across Katie on Instagram. I immediately fell in love with her work; her photos are rarely staged, all authentic, “in the moment” candid shots. On top of her amazing work she is the most kind hearted, down the earth person. Going to our engagement session, we didn’t know what to expect. We immediately felt comfortable with Katie and never felt awkward. We had to postpone due to COVID and Katie was so easy and accommodating! Our wedding photos are absolutely stunning, there truly isn’t a bad shot! I recommend Katie to every one and will continue to go to her in the future for any of my photography needs :)

I knew we needed to book Kaitlin from the second I found her Zola profile, but it was completely solidified by our meet and greet meeting. Kaitlin is exactly as described. So personal, completely herself, open and transparent, I could go on and on. One of the biggest things that sold us with Kaitlin (besides her work) was the fact that she gave us advice on what to look for/questions to ask with other photography vendors while we were on our hunt. We had our engagement photos in October in Boothbay Harbor and we are actually located in Western Mass. I had ideas in my head about what would work and Kaitlin made the drive to check out the locations and ensure they actually would. One of my locations wasn't the best lighting wise and she gave multiple other options to get similar looks. We actually ended up doing some downtown photos which are some of my favorites (which is a little a lie because I am obsessed with all of them). I read in multiple of Kaitlin's reviews that she makes awkward people comfortable behind the camera and I am here to say it is true. I was so stressed going into things, worried my hair looked bad, we wouldn't get *the* shot, we would look weird, etc. Kaitlin immediately asked me what my worries were and I felt so at ease. Working with Kaitlin felt like working with with a lifelong friend who really has it all together and is such a professional. I truly know that our wedding day is going to be that much better knowing she is going to be there documenting it all.

We met seven years ago in high school and have been together for the last three. At Cold River Photography, we believe that every image has a story to tell. We are a passionate team of photographers who are dedicated to capturing and preserving those unique moments that make life so beautiful. From breathtaking landscapes to intimate portraits, we have an eye for detail and a knack for capturing the essence of our subjects. Our mission is to create timeless and evocative photographs that not only showcase the beauty of the world but also evoke emotions and tell the story of each couples wedding day.

From the moment we booked Cold River Photography, they provided quick and clear communication. Justin and Kate were a pleasure to work with. As someone who does not love having their photo taken, they made me feel comfortable in front of the camera. We had our wedding at a small restaurant which was not a typical wedding venue with low ceilings and low lighting, and it ended up raining for our outdoor ceremony. It didn’t matter as the final photos are absolutely beautiful, capturing the natural beauty of our special day in a way that feels authentic and genuine. I would highly recommend Cold River Photography to any couple looking for skilled, easy-to-work-with photographers who will deliver stunning, high-quality images you'll treasure for a lifetime.

We're a married (to each other) pair of photographers in Portland, Maine - Will and Lucia are our names. We've been shooting weddings together for almost 20 years, and we've got a showroom where you can browse dozens of albums, or an online gallery of hundreds of weddings. Will's images have stronger direction and more impactful lighting, and Lucia's images are softer in feeling and capture candid moments. Having both of us at your wedding is truly getting two different photography styles - the best of both worlds.

From the jump, Will and Lucia took the time to actually get to know the two of us and our families. That investment and commitment on their end, made it incredibly easy to trust them. I did not worry about them one time the entire wedding weekend. The final products — images, albums, and gifts for others, were better than I could’ve ever expected. We got married at the Wentworth by the sea in New Castle, NH, and they know the venue as well as their own home. They picked up Slack when other vendors dropped the ball even though they didn’t have to. They navigated difficult and delicate relationships among the extended family. End in the end, I didn’t spend one moment of the entire wedding weekend thinking about them — meaning, even though they were photographing the whole thing, I felt free to stay focused on my guests and being present in the moment. I hope we know them the rest of our lives, though now primarily as friends.
