I’m Michelle, a Portland, Maine based wedding and couples photographer. I grew up in a small town in Connecticut, spent my college years and 20s in Boston, moved to New York City with my husband and now have found my way back to New England. I worked for eight years in event planning before going full-time with my photography business. I’m grateful for those eight years because they taught me so much that I’ve carried into managing my own small business. Beyond photography, I am an avid reader, love long bike rides, prefer the Monday crosswords, enjoy woodsy day hikes, and am always finding the nearest bookstore when we travel.

I grew up in a large family and have many memories of big family dinners - birthdays, holidays, cookouts. I love looking back through boxes and boxes of those photos and seeing those fleeting moments captured, those moments that make up our lives. I’m a natural observer - which is why I’m drawn to the camera. To me, there is nothing better than being able to flip through photos and relive a moment, a memory, or a feeling. Your wedding day will undoubtedly go by in the blink of an eye (mine did!), and I love being able to capture those big — and small — moments forever for you.

    The perfect photographer for our Maine wedding!

    We hired Michelle to photograph our wedding, and we couldn't have made a better decision! She was super organized throughout the planning process, which was not always the case with our other vendors, and helped keep our minds at ease at least about one thing. On the day of, Michelle and her 2nd shooter, Jessica, were amazing. They helped scout locations and got great pictures of us, our friends and family, and the little details around our venue. They made sure we'd have great photos to remember the night by, and even captured a bunch of moments and details we were too busy to notice at the time. After the wedding, Michelle told us what to expect for a turnaround, and got the final pictures over to us fast, giving us plenty of time after our mid-September wedding to have pictures ordered to give as Christmas gifts. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely recommend working with Michelle!

    Perfect photographer for our Portland elopement!

    I found Michelle's website when searching for a photographer for our elopement and immediately fell in love with her work! We discussed our plan for the day beforehand, and Michelle had a lot of great tips and ideas to make our vision come to life. From the moment she arrived on our wedding day she was such a delightful, grounding presence. The photos came out stunning, I love looking back at them and reliving those moments. She made us feel very comfortable being photographed and really captured the vibe of the day.

Typically, couples book me anywhere from 6-12 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
My turnaround time varies by season. For all sessions and weddings, I always share a few sneak peeks within 48 hours of the shoot. For a couples or engagement session, you will receive your full gallery within 4 weeks. For weddings, you'll receive your full gallery within 90 days.
You can expect about 80 to 100 images per hour of photographing. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
Your images will be uploaded to an online gallery that is accessed through a specific link I’ll share with you. You can share the gallery with as many people as you’d like and download the images for your personal use. You will have the option to purchase prints and other printed art through the gallery.
Once you’re ready to book, I’ll send you a contract to sign. Once that’s signed and your deposit is paid, it’s official! The remainder of your balance is due in two payments: one six months before the wedding date and the other by your wedding date. About six weeks out from your wedding date, I’ll reach out to start gathering details from you to coordinate your wedding photography timeline. I work closely with each couple to create a timeline that is personal to you and your day.
I’m based in Portland, Maine but am happy to consider travel for weddings. Travel greater than 150 miles roundtrip from Portland, Maine incurs an additional travel fee of $0.75 per mile along with accommodations and air travel covered by the couple.
In my 3 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
