Rowsley, the home of the Scarsdale Woman’s Club, is available for rentals. The beautiful house, gracious interior and stunning grounds are an ideal location for the celebration of special events; weddings, bar mitzvahs, anniversaries. HISTORY OF ROWSLEY The Scarsdale Woman's Club is headquartered in Rowsley, a 19th century manor house, set on almost four acres amid magnificent trees and plantings. The house was built in 1858 by William Bailey Lang, an English iron merchant. He fashioned it after a property in Derbyshire, England. Among the notable plantings on the site are the 470-year-old white oak tree and the massive rhododendron, both in the front of the property. Rowsley was named an Historic Landmark by the Village of Scarsdale in 1968, and in 2008, it was designated by the nation as a site on its National Register of Historic Places. Celebrate your big day at a luxurious midcentury modern retreat in the Catskill Mountains with a secret speakeasy inside it. The 4200-square-foot Mod House is an architectural gem built in 1959 by a follower of the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The open-plan layout and floor-to-ceiling windows connect the spacious interior to the natural world outside. You can tie the knot on the lawn with a lush forested backdrop. After the ceremony, revel with your guests in Love, Velma, an underground speakeasy and dance club within the venue. The speakeasy comes fully equipped with a bar, projector, stage, and lights. Love, Velma is wheelchair accessible and can host up to 100 guests, with parking available for up to 40 cars. Four bedrooms are available if you prefer to stay on-site on the wedding night.
