She started small by offering a few items for local pickup in Elk Grove, but word quickly spread, and she began receiving orders from all over the area. Dina worked tirelessly to keep up with demand, constantly striving to improve her craft. As the pandemic continued, she expanded her menu and asked her mother to help. Now in Vallejo, Dina's bakery has become a staple in her community, and she's excited for the future.

It all started in 2010 with a dessert bar for my in-law's 40-year anniversary party. I became well known among my group of friends for my desserts. If there was a potluck, there was a request for me to bring the dessert! What started as a passion for baking small desserts turned into creating custom one-of-a-kind cakes when a friend asked me to make a cake for her baby shower. In 2019 I made Custom Cakes by Tara an official business with all the proper licenses to operate out of my home kitchen and in 2021, I decided to accept only wedding cake orders.

I started Sammycakes in 2014 with a simple ombré rosette cake. It’s always been a dream and passion of mine to open my own bakery, after being inspired by my mother always baking for special occasions when I was a kid.

We began as a concession company providing cotton candy at sporting events. In the fall of 2021, we extended our brand by starting our own manufacturing plant. Sweet Buckets was born as an option for customers and businesses to purchase Cotton Candy and Gourmet popcorns direct from our company.

With an art background as a professional painter, Kellie Velasquez attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to hone her baking and pastry skills. After her first year in school, she sought out the opportunity to work with world renowned Cake Designer, Maggie Austin, where she developed her fundamental skills with wedding cakes and design. After completing the prestigious baking and pastry arts degree program at CIA, she held positions at some of San Francisco’s top bakeries, including Craftsman & Wolves, Susie Cakes, and most recently Pastry Chef at the popular Jane on Larkin.
