We eloped at the Stonecroft Inn and stayed in the Sarah Suite, with our ceremony held in the basement of the Yellow Barn in front of the fireplace. When I first emailed Alison, I told her we were looking for an intimate elopement away from the stress of work, school, and everyday responsibilities. We just wanted something peaceful and meaningful. That is exactly what they gave us. We didn’t have a huge plan, just the certainty that we wanted to be married. Alison Prenetta and her husband, Jim Prenetta, co-owners of Stonecroft Inn, took that simple intention and made it feel thoughtful, intentional, and completely us. Alison was incredibly accommodating, especially since we were a little last minute. She walked us through options for cake, prosecco or champagne, and how we envisioned the bouquet and boutonniere. I asked for something moody, romantic, and nothing bright, and it was absolutely perfect. Jim showed us different ceremony location options so we could choose what felt right. The Yellow Barn in front of the fireplace ended up being exactly what we envisioned. Before the ceremony, he personally brought up my bouquet and my husband’s boutonniere. Afterward, he brought us prosecco and our chocolate wedding cake, which was incredible. Betty, our justice of the peace, was amazing. She didn’t just officiate. She created a moment we will carry forever. Our photographer, Megan, was thoughtful, kind, and easy going. She asked about special requests, captured beautiful shots inside and outside in the snow with my red bouquet, and took ring photos. We haven’t seen the full gallery yet, but the experience alone tells us they will be incredible. We aren’t naturally comfortable in front of a camera, but she made us feel completely at ease. The Sarah Suite was stunning and impeccably clean. The wood ceilings, fireplace, whirlpool tub, and soft romantic lighting made it feel cozy and private. The tub was the perfect way to end the night, especially with the soothing jets and bath packet. The bedding was unbelievably comfortable, with a soft fur-backed quilt and the most comfortable pillows. We kept waking up intending to go to breakfast and falling back asleep because we felt so peaceful and comfortable in the quiet of the suite. When we finally made it to breakfast, it was delicious. Fresh baked muffins, fresh orange and cranberry juice, fresh fruit, coffee, and a full hot breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and pancakes. It was the perfect start to our first full day as husband and wife. The grounds are beautiful, the Yellow Barn is unique and charming, and our private porch had gorgeous lighting. The atmosphere is quiet but not isolated. It feels peaceful and welcoming at the same time. Everyone we met was friendly, excited for us, and genuinely invested in our day. They didn’t treat us like a booking. They treated us like family. We asked for something intimate and peaceful, and they delivered something unforgettable. We are already talking about coming back for our anniversary.
