From the beginning speaking with Casey on the big picture, to working on the small details with Alexandra, the duo was a delight to work with through it all. You know that Alexandra must work on over a hundred weddings throughout the year, but when it’s your turn (whether for the tasting, pre-wedding coordination, or day-of), she gives you her total attention and dedication, making your event feel like the most important. “Helgas helped bring my vision to life after another (more expensive) caterer told me it was not possible. We did a Made To Order pasta bar experience and it was exactly what I had envisioned. There were multiple chefs crafting dishes at a time so things went smooth and quick and the food was absolutely delicious. It tasted exactly the same as it did at our tasting and we got everything what we wanted from the quality of the food to the beautiful display. The only picture I have is from the tasting because I’m still waiting for pictures but it was an incredible experience from start to finish.”

“We hired POTR to cater our wedding at Josephine Butler Parks Center at the beginning of November 2024 and I was completely blown away by their service from the time we contacted them a year ago through clean up at the end of the night. POTR was stellar and flawless in every step of the way. We initially worked with Mila, who was responsive, professional and so helpful in helping us decide a menu. Planning a menu and catering for 150 people with different dietary needs but also staying within budget was no easy task. Mila presented us with a few options, and we chose a buffet with both meat and vegetarian options, as well as an antipasto display for cocktail hour. When we went in for the tasting, the food was amazing. We selected the top round, sesame chicken, portobello mushroom pasta, roast veggies, and mashed potatoes for our buffet, but we had such a difficult time deciding what to select because it was all so tasty. For the last three months leading up to the wedding, we ended up working with Bobby Mitchell and he was also phenomenal. When we did the walk through, he answered all of our questions (we had a lot) gave us advice on what would be the best seating arrangements, where to place the buffet, the best table sizes for the setups, and he even helped recommend contrasting colors for a few of the tablecloths and it looked amazing (we are so glad we took his advice!). His knowledge was invaluable and he readily answered the phone when we had questions. Within two weeks of the wedding, I requested a change to the vegetarian option (we ended up going with the butternut squash ravioli) and they were happy to accommodate. We didn’t try it at the tasting, but since the food was delicious, we were confident it would be good. It ended up being a hit at our wedding—people loved the ravioli, which sat on top of spaghetti squash. It was so good—even the non-vegetarians raved about it! On the day of the wedding, POTR knocked it out of the park. They were on time, set up everything flawlessly and efficiently. During our cocktail hour, Bobby brought us up a plate of food from the antipasto display (the tortellini are delicious!) and drinks to make sure we ate. We also heard compliments from the guests that the antipasto was so good and delicious. Also, since our venue was a tight space, we ended up using the same room for the ceremony and the reception. POTR turned it around within an hour. I wish I took photos of the room because it was beautiful! During dinner, Bobby brought us plates of food to make sure we ate, which was invaluable since one of the tips we have gotten several times is to make sure you eat at your wedding. When it came time for clean up, they were the pros. They broke everything down, cleaned it all up, and were done within an hour. Bobby also gave us extra food that was not served (we ordered extra just in case) and he had it packed up neatly and ready for us to go at the end of the night. We couldn’t have asked for a more amazing caterer. Bobby is phenomenal and POTR has delicious food, is professional, and they clearly know what they are doing. I can’t sing their praises enough. If you are looking for an amazing caterer, look no further. POTR will impress you and, true to their name, they will be “putting on the ritz” for you. We are so grateful for POTR making our day extra special!”

“We worked with Genesis Delight Catering at the recommendation of our venue manager at Sweeney Barn. We formed a close working relationship with Dianna over the course of wedding planning, as we also contracted her as our day of coordinator through her event planning business, Sublime Event Coordination. GDC and Dianna have a strong working knowledge of Sweeney Barn and close working relationships with the venue manager, which makes them a great option if you're having your wedding there. Pros of our experience with GDC: -They have an extensive menu and are willing to be flexible to match your vision. My family is predominantly located in New York, and New York weddings tend to have very over the top cocktail hours. That was not common in the standard packages offered by the caterers we spoke to in Virginia. However, through the use of their extensive party platter options and Dianna's expertise, we were able to add more into the cocktail hour than the standard options and still stay within budget. It wasn't a New York cocktail hour, but there were plenty of options and no one went hungry. -GDC provided the bar (which honestly wasn't overly expensive and saved us the pain of having to coordinate bringing our own alcohol, which no one wants to deal with on the day of their wedding) and worked with us on identifying signature cocktails that could be batched by their bartenders based on our preferences. They also worked with us to swap out some of their standard wine and liquor options to similarly priced items that we enjoy. -Sweeney Barn only has a warming kitchen, and we appreciated Dianna working with us to ensure that we could still have a small dance set at the start of our reception without impacting the quality of the food. -GDC works directly with rental companies, saving you the trouble (we rented Chiavari chairs), and they have nice complementary table setting options. Props to Dianna for identifying a floral napkin option in stock to fit with our overall decor theme! -Staff made sure the bride and groom were taken care of at all times, which was a really nice touch. We received many compliments on the food, including the presentation of entrees at dinner. Strongly recommend GDC, especially if you're working at one of their frequented venues like Sweeney Barn, to make your planning and execution as seamless as possible.”

“We loved working with Simply Fresh for our Torpedo Factory wedding. Brittany and her team were great with communication. All of our guests loved our food. I loved that Simply Fresh was flexible with us using other vendors such as Andy's Pizza for Late Night food and ordering homemade Pop Tarts and our wedding cake from M B Bakery. The catering staff was extremely gracious to not just the married couple, but all of our guests. They immediately responded to feedback when I wasn't a fan of the first signature drink they gave me and made sure all of the following drinks were perfectly stirred. One of the main reasons why we chose Simply Fresh is that they have a Virginia liquor license and were able to guarantee that our bar would not run out of alcohol. I think one of the best things about working with Simply Fresh is when we went to Select Rentals to pick out our linens/china/decor, etc. for the wedding they were very mindful about our budget and gave us guidance on what were the best items to use to give us an elegant feel to our wedding without breaking the bank. Given that the food and dance floor (fueled largely by alcohol) were such highlights for our guests at our wedding, we have Simply Fresh to thank in playing a large part in our big day.”

“It was such a pleasure working with Debbie and her team at Windows. They did an amazing job catering our wedding of about 110 people. From the very beginning of the process Debbie was thoughtful, professional, and brought so much attention to detail in our planning. The tasting was fun and allowed us an opportunity to pick and choose what would work best for day of. I also appreciated Debbie’s input when it came to the menu. We had several guests with food allergies and dietary restrictions and windows were able to accommodate all of them. Knowing we not be working with a florist, Windows provided our center pieces. Beautiful white flowers and greenery surrounding three candle holders of different heights. A beautiful touch that helped bring the space together. When it came to day of planning, Debbie was able to help with managing a smooth timeline and ensure all the food was prepared and ready tasting its absolute best. We’ve received tons of compliments on how delicious the food was from our guests. The short rib melted in your mouth and the Halibut was cooked to perfection and served to guests quickly not compromising its quality. For our vegan friends they noted the cauliflower steak was one of the best dishes they’ve had at a wedding. All in all we cannot recommend Windows enough! There are usually two ways people remember wedding food and we feel so lucky that guests walked away full and raving about how good ours was!”

Their communication throughout the planning process was incredibly proactive and professional, always responding to our questions in a timely manner. We planned our wedding and everything was fine until the Covid Pandemic shut down everything so we had to adjust. Cey’s was very helpful. On the day of the event, their team executed flawlessly, setting up sanitation stations for our guests and serving the delicious, memorable food in a safe and sanitary way. Even after their scheduled time was up, they stayed behind to prepare late night snacks for the guests who were still lingering, going above and beyond to make our special day perfect. “From the moment we reached out to them for a consultation to the end of our wedding, working with the Appetites by RJ team was a calm blessing in the flurry of wedding planning. They were always extremely responsive, kind, flexible, professional, and warm. We are a queer couple and they treated us like family from the beginning. Most importantly the food was AMAZING. Our guests are still talking about it, especially the mac and cheese and cornbread. We also hired them as our bartending team, and they did a great job with that as well. On wedding day, everything went without a glitch, and they made sure us as the wedding couple were fed and provided drinks throughout the night, so we actually got to really enjoy their delicious food. “No comparison! That’s Old Blue BBQs whole staff. Starting with Kelly, Steve,Carrie and the entire Crew. Kelly’s professionalism and light heartless made our daughter Taylor’s Wedding to Charlie the perfect day. We could not have done it without her.
