As soon as we arrived, we were so glad that we had chosen Milton Ridge and knew that we had made the right choice. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. They were with us through every step of our wedding day with lots of support and smiles. The cottage for getting ready is very cute, the chapel is beautiful, and the reception hall is great as well. They have many services included in their various wedding packages like catering, DJ, photographer, and cake. They also have outside vendors that they work with frequently, such as hair and make-up and a florist, who are all wonderful. They are inclusive, and they are supportive of LGBT weddings. My now wife and I are part of the LGBT community, and we were treated very well by the entire team. We were able to have our wedding exactly how we wanted, and they worked with us on every detail. On the day, they had the entire day scheduled and kept us on track, which is actually so necessary and helpful on a day when you're trying to do so many things. Everything went smoothly and as stress free as a wedding can be. It was truly a wonderful day. Thank you so much to the whole team! -Harley and Jackie

Seriously this was one of our best decisions in wedding planning. This venue has it ALL! We were looking for mountain views, outdoor ceremony with indoor reception, bring your own beer/booze (with hired legal bartender and correct licensing), bring your own food with no additional charge, on-site his&hers changing rooms, enough room for 100 people with a dance floor, and a cute cabin vibe. Not only did Faithbrooke meet all our requirements, it blew our expectations away! Faithbrooke is pretty much the only affordable, reasonable venue left in the greater DC/Shenandoah area that still is absolutely gorgeous and appears very high-end. The best part was Cort's kind, attentive, responsive customer service. He was truly incredible to work with, always easy to reach (which was so important), and worked with any special circumstances we had. They are more than accommodating here, so don't wait....seriously....book with Faithbrooke!!!!!

Sylvanside Farm was our first and only venue visit for our daughter’s wedding. The beautiful grounds and historical buildings on the farm made it an easy decision for us all. The owners, Terri and Jeff, have restored their property with utmost respect to its historical charm. Having on site lodging allowed both families to spend quality time together and hosting the rehearsal dinner on site made for an all around relaxing weekend. The curated list of preferred vendors, which Sylvanside provides, was very helpful and each vendor that we selected from their list was top notch. Terri and Jeff were very accommodating and responsive throughout the planning process and I highly recommend their venue for your special day.

Overall, we were happy with our wedding at Briar Patch. I’m going to give an honest review about our experience below with both good things and some things to consider. Even with some things not going perfectly, we feel that we would choose this venue again if we had the choice. We were very happy with: 1. The ability to have a wedding weekend here for a relatively low price, the ability to have our rehearsal, welcome dinner, wedding ceremony, wedding reception, and breakfast on Sunday all at the same place but in different spaces onsite. This was very convenient and our entire wedding party could stay onsite with us. We enjoyed this. They gave my husband a Veteran’s discount, which we very much appreciated. The property is gorgeous, and we made use at our November wedding of the mountains in the background. T This fit our vision of a romantic rural venue that was elegant, but not pretentious, with lovely views. 2. Dan and Ellen were very nice to me and my husband. They brought us breakfast in the cottage on our wedding day so we could have a quiet breakfast together before the day started. That’s what we wanted. The Chef made my mom a special breakfast sandwich to order in the morning. They were accommodating about us bringing in lunch on Friday for the wedding party, snacks on the wedding day, and doing a customized breakfast for us on Sunday. We appreciated their ability to be flexible. 3. The fall colors were perfect, the horse was on property, we got amazing pictures under the stars, and we loved being able to make use of all of the spaces onsite for our different events. The scenery was really picturesque! The reception hall is perfect for a wedding reception and plenty of space for dancing. The location was close to Dulles for people to fly in and get there easily. 4. The cottage for the couple was fun and the kitchenette was nice. The bathtub was nice, and it was a good space for all of the ladies to get ready in on the day of the wedding, hang out, and have snacks. 5. On Friday night, we had a country western party themed welcome party and dinner in the space outside of the ballroom. We had adequate space to turn that space into a dance floor (near the fireplace) and set up food/drinks and tables for 50 in that space. Dan recommended Hammerdown BBQ, which is very nearby. We had people raving about the BBQ, saying it was the best cornbread they had ever had, and the best brisket. Things that could have been improved: 1. The rooms are quirky and there are insects and rodents around. If that is a deal breaker, than this may not be the place for you. It is rustic! That's part of the charm and also comes with some things that are unavoidable. 2. There are not bathrooms in all of the rooms and for some people in our wedding party, that was an issue. 3. There was some lack in communication between the owners and our wedding coordinators and caterer. 4. There were some issues where our coordinators couldn’t find Dan, Ellen, or staff on the day of the wedding when they needed them. 5. Some spots around the venue are not easily handicap accessible and there are not bathrooms at every site. Overall, we are satisfied with our choice to go with Briar Patch. It was a great choice and we have many happy memories and beautiful pictures from that day. For a wedding weekend near the DC area, you can’t beat the value and beauty of this venue!

The inclusion of tables, chairs, getting ready space, a built-in bar, space that can be used just for catering, and more is truly so helpful. The space was perfect for a 40-person wedding I coordinated. The owner was so kind and just a quick reach away if we needed anything. Ballenger farm is quaint and magical with goats, chickens, ducks, and the sweetest black cat named Peter Pan. The Quaker-built farmhouse, which is open for overnight stays, has stood for over 250 years and is decorated in a delightful East meets West circa 1890 sort of way. While it's primarily an outdoor venue with ceremony spots by a fairytale tree, forested columns, and a cozy courtyard, there's also a small barn (corn crib) in case of rain or too much sun. It's an oasis for lovers and dreamers looking to have an intimate wedding.

If you are looking for a relaxed, charming and absolutely beautiful venue than this is the place! The house was built in the late 1700s and is chock full of beautiful antiques (and a super fun secret staircase!). There are multiple areas on the farm that can be used for a ceremony spot, photo ops and/or lovely hang spots! There are also chickens and goats roaming freely. Additionally Liz and her family were incredibly helpful. Liz went out of her way to help me fix some issues that were beyond my control and on the day of the wedding was at the ready to help with whatever we found we needed. Being able to have the farm the whole weekend was also a major plus. Ballenger Farm will forever have a special place in my heart, it was truly the best place to have such a memorable event and I look forward to going back one day.

Venue considerations

  • Limited cleanup and setup services
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Dance floor not included
Wes and Jill and all of Cimiez Manor made our wedding truly magical. We met Jill in November of 2019 right after we got engaged looking for a venue that could handle a moderately sized wedding without breaking the bank and still available on the most popular wedding date of 2020 at the time (10.10.2020). The venue is off the beaten trail up the road from Dry Mill Winery. When you drive down the road you see a beautiful manor house that checked off our first box. We walked into the house and Jill decorated the giant chalkboard wall with our name for an extra special touch. The high ceilings, giant chandelier, Victorian era decor, and the speakeasy charm had us hooked. Once we signed, Jill and Wes kept us updated on all the happenings at the venue and changes that incurred with a COVID wedding. They worked well with our wedding planner and we really couldn’t have had a better wedding. They even let us hide a bottle of whiskey on the property for good luck! If you are truly looking for a magical wedding, Cimiez Manor should be the first choice!

Showalter’s Orchard

5.0

Timberville, VA
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $5,300

Over the years, we've enjoyed sharing our farm with our friends and family for their uniquely beautiful weddings. Seeing our extraordinary aerie from their perspective reminded us to take in how special it is, and it inspired us to redesign and renovate a former greenhouse. We’ve created a belvedere of sorts with walls of windows that make a feature of our wondrous view of the Shenandoah Valley.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Has onsite accommodations
  • Surrounded by beautiful vineyards
  • Rustic-chic setting

Venue considerations

  • Does not provide event staff
  • No in-house lighting and sound packages available
  • Does not have a dance floor
Showalter’s was one of two venues on our short list, and we’re very glad we decided to go with them. We wanted a mountain view during the ceremony and the terrace was absolutely perfect. The greenhouse is gorgeous and looks amazing both in person and in photographs and was the perfect backdrop. We served cider and apple cider donuts and our guests loved both. It felt so unique and special! Working with everyone at the venue was incredibly easy, and they were so kind and welcoming to us and felt like they really wanted to make sure our day went well. We booked all of the AirBnBs on the property and would definitely recommend doing so. The “bridal” suite off of the Greenhouse was great for staging and getting a moment away during the wedding, having the extra space for actually getting ready was a very good choice (especially with larger wedding parties and lots of people doing hair and makeup). We also stayed in one of the AirBnBs the night before and afterwards, and being on the property was incredibly convenient as hotels in Harrisonburg are a bit of a hike. The AirBnBs were cute and worked great for our purposes! We stayed in one of the AirBnBs through to the Monday after our Saturday wedding which was great and made it so that we didn’t have to rush getting everything out the morning after the wedding. The quality of their work and the value they provided was unparalleled - the grounds were beautifully manicured, with an expansive woodland forest setting that created the perfect backdrop for our celebration. Nichole, our Grelen coordinator, was always available to answer our questions and provide guidance throughout the planning process. They have a wonderful selection of approved vendors, but also gave us the flexibility to work with our preferred tent provider. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue to host our wedding, and we're so grateful to the Boxwood Villa team for making our day truly magical.

We had the pleasure of hosting our wedding at Greenock Manor, and we could not have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, Chanel—who not only runs the venue but also served as our wedding coordinator and planner—was truly phenomenal. She is incredibly sweet, attentive, and went above and beyond to help us create a weekend we’ll never forget. Chanel connected us with amazing vendors, including our caterer, DJ, officiant, and photographer, and made the entire planning process feel seamless. She helped to ensure we were getting good prices, and she was always accommodating, communicative, responsive, and wonderfully organized, which made us feel completely at ease leading up to the big day. The venue itself is stunning—elegant, charming, and full of character. Our wedding was in late April, and the venue grounds were lush and vibrant with greenery and flowers. One of the highlights was the ample on-site lodging, which allowed the wedding party to stay with us over the weekend. Being able to spend extra time with our close friends and loved ones in such a beautiful setting made everything even more special. After the wedding, we took advantage of the fire pit on the property, and it turned out to be the perfect way to wind down with our wedding party and share a few more laughs before the weekend came to a close. We can’t recommend Greenock Manor—and Chanel—highly enough. It was everything we dreamed of and more.

The number of extras offered for this venue was impressive. She acted as the Day-Of coordinator, provided the tables and linens and parking attendants. There was room for the bridal party and groomsmen to get ready without seeing each other. I would call it the perfect venue.
