Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, our meeting house was constructed in 1930 during the administration of the Quaker president, Herbert Hoover. It was built to serve as a house of worship and a gathering place for those wanting to “seek peace and pursue it.” The building was enlarged in 1950. In 1970, we acquired the red brick Quaker House, Carriage House and garden at 2121 Decatur Place NW. Built in the 1920s and also on the National Register, these buildings today house a number of nonprofit organizations and small businesses as well as additional event spaces. With multiple interior spaces and gardens, we can accommodate events of various sizes and layouts, from 2 to 300. We host individuals, non-profit organizations, and for-profit entities. Our event rental prices are affordable, with discounts offered to non-profit organizations in alignment with our values. Whether you are planning a wedding, celebration, a corporate meeting, we can accommodate you.

“Our recent wedding at the Friends Meeting of Washington (near Dupont Circle) was the best possible choice of venue we could make. The staff was helpful, professional, caring, and did all they could to make our day run smoothly. It was lovely to hold the ceremony, reception, and the dancing in one venue. Their beautiful, light-fillled Meeting House space on the second floor well accommodated our very large group of family and friends, and their newly renovated courtyard made it possible to hold the reception and dinner outdoors. We danced indoors on the first floor. It was memorable to me, my beloved, and my family members that I could be married in the same room where my family attended Quaker meeting in the 1960's, where my father's memorial service was held in the mid 'seventies, and where I attended services regularly when I was a young working woman in the 1980's. Many thanks to Brian Luttenegger, Genevi Schindehutte , and the FMW community for all you did to make our wedding day so memorable.”

“It only took one visit for us to fall in love with Comus Farm. From the moment we arrived, we knew it was something special. It had snowed heavily earlier that week, so we weren't able to fully explore the property during our tour and only got to see the barn and farmhouse—but that was all it took. What truly sealed the deal, though, was Lauren and Kara. From our very first meeting, they made us feel so cared for and completely at ease. They go above and beyond to make the planning process as stress-free as possible. They always had a plan A, B, C—and probably D if needed! They were incredibly responsive, patient with my many questions and requests, and genuinely invested in making our day feel exactly the way we had envisioned. One of our favorite suggestions was having their pony with a flower basket hand out our wedding favors during cocktail hour. It was such a unique touch, and our guests still talk about it to this day, along with how beautiful the venue was. We also felt incredibly lucky to be the first couple to have the pony hand out favors—it made the experience even more special. We've been fortunate enough to experience Comus Farm in multiple seasons—a winter tour, summer save-the-date photos, and our spring wedding. Every visit has been beautiful, and the venue is truly stunning no matter the season, whether your ceremony is indoors or outdoors. Staying in the farmhouse was the perfect finishing touch. It's beautiful, thoughtfully equipped, and gave our families a wonderful place to gather before and after the wedding. Waking up the morning after on the same property where we had just celebrated one of the best days of our lives gave us one last chance to soak it all in—a memory we'll cherish forever. Lauren, Kara, and the entire Comus Farm team, thank you for giving us the wedding of our dreams. Your kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care made every step of the journey unforgettable. Comus Farm will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we cannot recommend it enough.”
