The Whittemore House is one of Washington’s most historic and elegant mansions. Designed as a private residence between 1892 and 1894 by architect Harvey Page for opera singer Sarah Adams Whittemore, the mansion is conveniently located in Dupont Circle. The immense charm of the irregularly shaped exterior is handsomely reflected in the interior room arrangement and open connecting spaces, making it an ideal gathering space for your next special event. The Woman’s National Democratic Club has occupied the mansion since 1927. The Whittemore House was listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1973 and was granted museum status in 2000. Monroe Bay Vineyard is located on the water near Colonial Beach on the original birthplace Farm of our 5th President James Monroe. We have secluded and tranquil waterfront land to plan your perfect day. We have a large, unique barn made of natural, recycled materials of strawbales for insulation and recycled wine bottles for light and design. You no longer see the strawbales in the wall as they have been covered with a hydraulic lime the same material castles in France for hundreds of years have been made from. The inside is a museum quality white lime finish with unique curves with sun shining through the patterned wine bottle walls to give a unique backdrop.
