Why is New York the Perfect Wedding Destination?

New York gives you incredible variety for your special day, from Manhattan's iconic skyline to the charming countryside of Upstate. You can enjoy timeless elegance at The Plaza Hotel with its grand ballrooms overlooking Central Park, or take in breathtaking panoramic views of Manhattan at Tribeca Rooftop. Brooklyn offers photography-friendly industrial-chic spaces like The Foundry with its character-filled exposed brick and factory windows. Head Upstate and you'll find City Winery Hudson Valley where your celebration unfolds against the backdrop of a working vineyard with mountain views that change beautifully with each season. April sees the most wedding inquiries in New York, showing just how many couples are drawn to the region during spring's beautiful blooming season.

What's the Reality of Wedding Costs in New York?

Expect to pay more for your New York wedding than the national average of $6,500-$12,000 for venues alone. New York venues typically cost around $16,709 which makes up about 22% of your total wedding budget. Your overall costs will vary based on how many guests you're hosting: Guest Count Total Wedding Budget 50 guests (small wedding) $32,316 100 guests $54,844 150 guests $76,011 200 guests $94,911 250 guests $113,810 300 guests (large wedding) $132,709 Your other major expenses will include catering at $13,367 (18%), bar services running $10,694 (14%), florals at $8,177 (11%), planners costing $6,044 (8%), photography at $5,119 (7%), videography at $4,622 (6%), entertainment at $2,298 (3%), cake and desserts at $1,067 (1%), and hair and makeup averaging $550 (1%).

How Do NYC Wedding Venues Compare to Upstate Locations?

NYC venues offer you urban sophistication with distinctive skyline views. At Tribeca Rooftop + 360° you'll enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing Manhattan panoramas while The Plaza presents opulent ballrooms featuring chandeliers ornate molding and gold accents. The 620 Loft & Garden gives you a stunning rooftop terrace overlooking St. Patrick's Cathedral and Fifth Avenue. Upstate venues surround you with natural beauty and historic architecture. City Winery Hudson Valley welcomes you to a renovated factory featuring vaulted ceilings stone walls and vineyard views. You can host up to 350 guests here and customize your outdoor ceremony areas to create exactly the atmosphere you're dreaming of.

Which New York Venues Offer Outstanding Culinary Experiences?

You can treat your guests to Two Michelin star cuisine at Manhatta perched 60 floors high in the Financial District where Executive Chef Justin Bogle creates memorable dishes like hamachi and black truffle dumplings. The River Cafe in Brooklyn serves Michelin-starred cuisine featuring Hudson Valley foie gras and Nantucket Bay scallops with Brooklyn Bridge views right outside your window. For a farm-to-table experience Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Westchester County offers cuisine sourced directly from their on-site farm with their HayLoft space accommodating anywhere from 40 to 260 guests.

Where Can You Find Accessible Wedding Venues in New York?

For couples prioritizing accessibility 620 Loft & Garden offers customizable settings that can work with various needs though you'll want to confirm specific features during your planning. Prospect Park Boathouse and Central Park Conservatory Garden provide accessible options with proper pathways for all your guests. Always ask about specific accommodations like wheelchair ramps elevators and accessible restrooms when you're researching potential venues to ensure everyone can fully participate in your celebration.

How Can Guests Participate Remotely at New York Weddings?

Historic Manhattan venues can make remote guests feel included by incorporating virtual tours during ceremony breaks while Midtown Loft & Terrace supports interactive platforms that go beyond simple passive streaming. You might consider venues in Chelsea or SoHo that can enhance those famous skyline views with live streaming that includes interactive elements like virtual photobooths live chats or virtual toasts. These features help create genuine engagement for participants joining your special day from afar.

“Not only is the Cracker Factory a beautiful hidden gem, but every person on the team is amazingly considerate, kind, and helpful. Ashley, Brandon, and Amanda were a joy to work with from the initial tour to all email correspondence, the day of and even when picking up our decor the day after. We stumbled on the venue in a random Google search and decided to check it out while passing through after the holidays, and were blown away by the venue's layout, architecture, interior design, and features. It was everything we wanted and more. They provided us a very detailed list of recommended vendors covering everything from furniture rentals to catering, even hotels and airbnbs in the area. Their bar service packages were expertly tailored and they even had NA beer and wine which quite a few of our guests really appreciated. Brandon and Ashley were like extra coordinators during our tea ceremony, welcome party, and wedding day. They are extremely understanding of cultural ceremonies and were happy to boil water needed for our tea ceremony and set up the necessary seating and tables for it. Brandon was so attentive to us and our whole wedding party and family. We got so many compliments on his friendliness and kindness, as well as how beautiful and unique the venue is. Ashley was so quick to respond and answer any questions we had weeks and days leading up to our wedding. When we were visiting shops and places in the Geneva area a couple days leading up to the wedding, everyone in the community gave them such high praise, telling us we were in great hands, and they couldn't have been more right. Everyone at the cracker factory is professional, kind, communicative, and fun. They helped us have an incredibly fun and stress-free wedding. We couldn't recommend this space and this team enough.”

“Aside from the beauty of the lake and the hotel, this place did it all for us. Any extra things we wanted for the wedding or reception just needed to be dropped off and the event coordinators took care of the rest. The coordinator we met with was great with communication through email. We really enjoyed our dinner tasting - the food was amazing! The coordinators made the day run so smoothly. The room for the cocktail hour was set up wonderfully. Table settings are included with the package and the candles looked perfect. We felt secure in knowing we could easily move the ceremony inside with any weather concerns. The landscaping/greenery is so well taken care of, it looked fantastic for our ceremony outside on the patio. The hotel staff set up, serve, and clean up - it made for a very relaxing weekend. Our hotel room was incredible also. The hotel was generous with leaving little surprises and gifts for us when we arrived to our room. It was all worth the price.”

“The Big Tree Inn absolutely exceeded my expectations for our wedding. From the start when I was just asking about options April and her team were on top of everything, very quick to respond to emails and calling back. They are so flexible, there wasn’t anything we couldn’t throw at them that they didn’t take on and absolutely dominate. The cost was such a big factor in our wedding at the Big Tree, they are so affordable and you get every cent you pay for! We originally wanted to do just our reception at the Big Tree but in the end we ended up doing the entire wedding there. April was so flexible with every little change. Words cannot express how beautiful and truly amazing our wedding was, it was everything we pictured and so much more. Big Tree Inn is the perfect place to get married and if I had to do it all over again I wouldn’t hesitate to work with the Big Tree Inn.”
