Construction on Powerhouse began in 1915 as part of an expansion project by the D.C. Paper Manufacturing Company. In 1917, the building began operating as a power plant for the paper company. Just a few short years later in 1919, Capitol Traction Company purchased Powerhouse to use as trolley car storage until 1932. In more recent years, Powerhouse has been used for event and office space. Today, the iconic smokestack still stands 150 feet above the building, symbolizing its towering impact on the history and culture of Georgetown.

The Showroom is located on 14th Street, NW and boasts over 8,000 sq/ft of modern-industrial event space. 18 foot ceilings accentuate the open floorplan of the venue. The Showroom offers clients the opportunity to fully customize their event and create a setting that is ideal for their dream wedding. Designed with events in mind, The Showroom offers many unique features. Dimmable overhead lighting in the main space downstairs set the mood for a ceremony, cocktail hour or reception. The Wharf Dockmaster Building is located at the end of District Pier and your rental includes the space on the pier around it. You have wrap around balconies and 270 degree views of the river and boats, plus the Washington Monument. Your rental gives you the building for the day so you can do any advance decorating, load in etc. It is unfurnished space – typically your caterer will coordinate tables, chairs etc. and help you design the look you want. Our inside capacity is typically 100 seated dinner style or 140-150 standing cocktail style.
