It all started 9 years ago when I started dating Diane’s son (my now husband). For our first Valentine’s day I made him chocolate chip cookies in the shape of hearts. Diane tried one and said, yep, this girl can bake. Diane has been making every flavor Christmas cookie under the sun since 1993. After tasting my chocolate chip cookie that day she brought me on as her helper and we would bake away during the holidays. Fast forward a few years and we have decided to make this a full time adventure!

An Award Winning Chef, Marlene Souza, is the creative and dynamic influence behind Molly B’s Cakes of Distinction and Design. Owner Shauna Hinchen-Joyal studied pastry arts at Johnson and Wales University and has worked in the baking industry for over 20 years, making specialty event and wedding cakes as well as her signature pastries. All our espresso drinks are made with our gorgeous Italian made La Marzocco machine.

I am a small, one woman-operated home bakery that specializes in custom buttercream cakes and macarons for birthdays, engagement parties, and small weddings. I began as a cake artist in 2020 and have fallen in love with creating realistic buttercream flowers and piping vintage-style Lambeth cakes.

I derailed my 4-year college plan to work in a restaurant and then attend pastry school - which is how I landed in Rhode Island. I needed a field that was both regimented and creative and pastry delivered! I’ve baked in Providence for over 6 years, and I couldn’t imagine ever leaving the incredible network of small food businesses that I’ve been welcomed into. Every cake and frosting is made by me, from scratch - no fondant in my kitchen! My favorite designs are those that capture the personalities and passions of my incredible clients.

Through years of education, baking has been my therapy, and brought happiness to my colleagues' stomaches as well.
