Wedding Wine Q&A with The Pinot Project

Flower girl and ring bearer. Bouquet and veil. Wedding reception and wine selection. Rarely do you see one of these without the other. But there are a whole lot of decisions to consider when ordering bottles for your reception. That’s why we chatted with David Skurnik, one of the proprietors of The Pinot Project (who wined up our Zola Retreat a few weeks back) to help answer our questions. 1. How do you decide how much wine to order for a wedding reception? If you’re getting married at a full-service wedding venue, they should have you covered on this front. But, if you’re bringing all the wine to your own reception, like my wife and I did, assume you’ll need roughly half as many bottles as people attending your wedding, split 50/50 between white and red. Best Barware – Registry 101

You’re already known for your great taste in wine and extensive repertoire of cocktails, so why not have the best barware in town, too? Your wedding registry is the perfect reason to freshen up your selection of cups, glasses, tumblers and all things “party” because this year, you have tons to celebrate. Let’s do it. What do I need?  We’ll start with the basics. Wine (red and white), beer, champagne, and cocktail glasses are all first steps to getting your collection started. And please, get rid of those lingering red plastic cups. How many of each do I get?  If you’re thinking 8-12, you’re almost right. We suggest adding a few more for insurance purposes. Accidents happen (especially when drinks are involved) so to be sure to you can always keep a full set around the house, we err on the side of caution and always add some more. That seems like a lot!
