We broke down the most common registry concerns we hear from our Zola couples to show you that, at the end of the day, your wedding registry doesn’t have to be a chore.
1. When am I supposed to register?
The sooner, the better! Guests will likely want to purchase gifts for pre-wedding events (engagement parties, showers), so having a registry early on is beneficial for everyone.
2. What do we even need?
Sit down with your partner and run through what you already have, what you’ve been wanting to replace, and what you want. Truly not sure where to start? 3. Did I register for enough gifts?
In the case of registering, more is better. Running out of gifts is a pain for both you and your guests. Use the Planner function on our iPhone app to estimate how many guests you think you might have, and we’ll break it down for you. Price Range Recommendations even divvy it up so that your guests can choose a gift within their budget.
4. Is this how my friends did it?
Not that you need to play copycat, but if you have recently married friends who just went through this process – use them as a resource! Pick their brain to learn what worked and what they wish they’d done differently.
5. Do we look greedy?
No! It’s always better to have more than you think you’ll need on your registry – guests love to have options to choose from, and with the option to turn a higher-priced item into a group gift of hide the total amount on a cash fund, you don’t have to worry about appearing overly eager.
6. How will I keep track of everything?

7. My family wants me to go the traditional route, but we would really love funds for an epic vacation. Is there a happy medium?
Yes! We totally understand wanting to make everyone happy, but ultimately your registry is YOURS. By combining an array of traditional gifts with cash funds and experiences, you can truly have your cake and eat it too.
8. Some of my guests may want to have a gift shipped directly to them – is this an option?
Of course! At least at Zola it is. We totally understand that the tradition of wrapping and presenting a gift is time-honored and true. You can give your guests the option to ship items you’ve added to your registry from either Zola or a third party website to themselves.
9. My registry looks so cluttered – help!
Grouping gifts together is key – organizing your gifts will save your sanity and cut down on your guests’ precious browsing time. Categorize your gifts into custom collections based on your interests (Cooking Up A Storm, Outdoor Adventures, Honeymoon), areas of your home (Kitchen, Bedroom, Bar), or anything else your heart desires.
10. How do I make my registry stand out?
Personalize, personalize, personalize! Upload couple photos that tell your unique story and add notes to your items letting your loved ones know why you’d value each gift. This truly makes your guests feel like they’re contributing to a specific portion of your soon-to-be married life.
