Who knew a California flag could be such a great conversation starter? #ZolaCouple Keith & Katherine would know, as they bonded during their semester abroad in Rome over the fact that both went to school in sunny Cal. With only 29 days left until their May wedding, get to know this couple and their wedding planning and registry tips.
How did you meet? Both of our architecture schools (Cal Poly and Northeastern) shared a school in Rome for study abroad. Katherine lived down the hall from me and walked past my room everyday. I had a California flag hanging on my wall, it was a great conversation starter.
How did you get engaged? We were in Montreal on a Valentines Day long weekend adventure.
What was the first thing you did after you got engaged? Went out for an amazing Montreal/French dinner. We didn’t have a reservation, but a large party cancelled theirs and we were seated at a huge round table at the head of the restaurant.
Any tips for balancing wedding planning with your everyday busy life? Stay true to what you want and it should all happen naturally. Don’t stress over the little details. Think of it as a big party where you get to hang out with all your friends and family, no matter where you are or what you eat.
Go-to dinner on a week night? Anything quick and fresh, typically with an asian influence.
Favorite sunday breakfast? French toast, on the back deck.
Who’s the cook between the two of you? Me (Keith), I sometimes get carried away with chefly aspirations, but I’m just as happy mixing up some cocktails and letting Katherine cook.
What are you most excited for about newlywed life? Putting savings towards all of the house renovations we’ve been designing for the past year.
