About this venue

Located in the Michigan City's Uptown Arts District surrounded by history sits this 150+ year old church. It was fully renovated in 2020 while keeping the charm of old architecture. We offer an experience that merges the past and the present through modern comfort and historical luxury. All eyes will be focused on you as you enter our beautiful ballroom. As you begin your magical journey down our center aisle, you will meet the love of your life, where the two of you will vow your love to one another. Exiting the ballroom as a newly married couple, you’ll begin your new life in celebration with your guests during cocktail hour in our lounge & historic courtyard. Once returning to the cathedral ballroom, you will enter into your gorgeous, fully transformed dinner and reception space. This is your night!

Ballroom

Our jaw-dropping ballroom with soaring ceilings is the showstopper for every wedding.

This space has a main floor and wrap around balcony that was originally a church built in 1867. It was fully renovated in 2020 with all new lighting and sound. The 40 foot curved ceiling and surrounding columns can be lit up to any color or combination of colors you desire. The original organ behind the stage can also be accented with colors. This space gives you the feel that you are within a piece of history while giving you the luxury of a modern wedding.

    Jeremy and Judy are the absolute BEST! You will never find event coordinators that care more about your event. Uptown Social is such a unique venue that has it all - history, architecture, photo opportunities, on site ceremony location, a big dance floor, a gorgeous courtyard and a separate bar for hanging out. As a wedding vendor, it is one of my favorite places for sure!

    My wedding planning experience with Uptown was phenomenal. If you have the pleasure of working alongside Jeremy and Judy, they are there to support and manage decisions with you every step of the way, helping you feel like you are in control of your vision while they help guide what all they can do for you to make it happen. Both professional and empathetic to your needs and vision, we felt like a dreamy team to put the day together from the start. (We had our reception here only, so it was great to not have the stress of a room flip.) Would recommend you ask them for local recommendations, as we used just about every recommendation they had; florist, cake, driving service, and local accommodations for our bridal party and our guests. Every single recommendation was amazing to work with, with professionalism and the touch of warmth from a small town that we personally loved, all thanks to Uptown. Michigan City is the cutest Lake town with surprisingly a lot of food, drinks, and nature to explore. This was a semi-destination wedding for us and our guests as we are from Chicago and most other family from Ohio or farther. So a lot of guests took advantage of having an extended weekend to explore the National Park, Lake, and Winery in the area. So if that is something you think your guests would like to take advantage of, it was definitely a winning aspect leading up to the day. We got to mingle with guests prior to the wedding so it didn't feel like a complete rush of saying hello to all of our guests on Saturday. The venue is spectacular, perfect for a modern church vibe turned into a booming party space; we ended up clearing our head table from the stage to have more room for fun and dancing! The sound system is awesome, so one less thing for a DJ to have to bring. Lighting in the ball room is customisable which we had a lot of fun working with Jeremy on to change the mood for each part of the night. All other areas of the venue are simple, elegant, and give the space for guests to mix and mingle without being stuck in one area of your wedding (bar lounge, courtyard, front patio, and balcony areas). I could seriously not say enough about the wonderful experience we had at our wedding, and Uptown was definitely a key player. Much love to Jeremy and Judy 3
