About this venue

Standing the test of time since the 1800’s, the Baum Opera House has played a significant role in the life and history of Miamisburg. Constructed by Charles Baum, a German immigrant and businessman, it began as the Star City Opera House, one of the finest in Ohio. For 135 years the Opera House has contributed to the culture and history of the city and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ransdell Ballroom

The Ransdell Ballroom’s historic mansard-style architecture and beautifully restored hardwood floors make it the perfect venue for weddings, concerts, dance parties, and other large celebrations. Adding to the ambiance of ballroom events is the large stage styled with rich, blue velvet curtains that complement the handmade draperies covering the room’s nine-foot original windows. Located on the second floor of the Opera House, the ballroom is accessible by elevator and has a capacity for up to 250 guests. It offers a catering kitchen and private restrooms.

Templer Room

The Perfect Choice for Intimate Gatherings. Paying homage to the Baum’s benefactor, Robert Templer, this more personal event space is perfect for wedding or baby showers, business gatherings, holiday parties and more. Located on the first floor of the Opera House, it has its own side entrance and a spacious foyer. With a capacity to seat 100 guests, an elevated platform stage, catering kitchen, PA system and private restrooms, the Templer Room is sure to make your next event one to remember.

    Victorian Vampire

    The Baum Opera House was the perfect fit for our wedding day. From our first conversation, the team was quick to respond and truly knew their space inside and out. They even met us in the evening so we could measure things and make sure our vision would work, then helped us tweak a few ideas to fit the layout just right. Erin made it feel like working with an old friend. For the price, you honestly can't beat the amount of square footage and the beautiful bones of the building. The staff was friendly and easy to work with throughout the entire process, which made planning feel stress-free. We'd absolutely recommend The Baum to any couple looking for a venue that gives you great value without cutting corners.
