About this venue
Elegant plantings and cultivated grounds fill this public garden with vibrancy that's more than a century in the making. Long Hill is a property of The Trustees of Reservations, a Massachusetts non-profit corporation. From 1916 to 1979, Long Hill was the summer home of noted author and editor of The Atlantic Monthly, Ellery Sedgwick. He summered here with his first wife, Mabel Cabot Sedgwick, an accomplished horticulturist, gardener, and author of The Garden Month by Month, and his second wife, Marjorie Russell Sedgwick, a rare plants specialist—both of whom created a delightful, enchanting landscape, surrounded by more than 100 acres of woodland. Today, visitors delight in the beauty of Long Hill’s structured and naturalistic gardens as well as a network of woodland trails. A diverse collection of trees, shrubs, and distinctive perennial plants provide color during the growing season, peaking in May and June and providing structure and beauty throughout the year.

Natural Beauty and Historic Charm
Long Hill in Beverly, MA, was nothing short of a dream come true for our wedding day. From the moment we stepped foot on the property, we knew it was the place where we wanted to begin our forever journey together. Here's why Long Hill was the perfect venue for our special day. We didn't need to go overboard with decorations because the natural beauty is simply breathtaking. Long Hill offered us a variety of spaces to work with. We held our ceremony in the garden, cocktail hour on the croquet lawn, and our reception was in the beautifully situated tent space. Helena was the best coordinator! She truly invested in making our day perfect. From our initial inquiries to the day of our wedding, she was with us every step of the way, ensuring that every detail was just right. Long Hill exceeded our expectations in every way, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a wedding venue that combines natural beauty, historic charm, and a touch of enchantment. Our day was perfect, thanks to Long Hill and its dedicated team.
Beautiful September Wedding
After struggling to find a wedding venue that aligned with our vision and was within our budget, we feel so lucky to have stumbled upon the hidden gem that is Long Hill. The entire property is absolutely stunning with an infinite amount of backdrops for photos! The gardens are lush and well manicured. The house has so much character. The reception tent is absolutely beautiful and was ultimately what sealed the deal for us! The staff were easy to communicate with and were nothing but pros on our big day. The reason I gave 4/5 stars is because the venue lacks a good “plan B” for a ceremony location if the weather is bad. Everything, including the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, is held under the tent if it rains as they do not allow additional tents and there is not a large enough space inside the house for a ceremony. Unfortunately, hosting the entire event under the reception tent really did not align with our vision, and we ended up having to locate another event space for our ceremony at the last minute due to rain. Otherwise, 5 stars!
July 2023 wedding
My husband and I had our wedding at Long Hill July 2023 and it was everything we could have imagined. The venue was absolutely beautiful, and we received countless compliments from guests, asking “how did you find this place?!” The gardens were beautiful for our ceremony/cocktail hour and the tent was gorgeous for the reception. Helena, the coordinator for Long Hill, was super communicative and made sure everything ran smoothly day of. The entire venue was gorgeous, steeped in history and made the perfect backdrop for our photos. We would highly recommend this venue!
A fairytale venue
Hidden gem in the North Shore of Boston. The property and estate house are gorgeous. Beautiful venue for garden, romantic, whimsical weddings with a rich history and classic style. Your guests will be blown away by the sprawling gardens and endless areas of sculpted grounds to explore. Venue coordinator is quick to respond to questions and super helpful. You will also feel good spending your money with a non-profit organization (The Trustees) that will benefit the property, other associated properties, and the community.
