About Sage & Ceremony

Sage & Ceremony

Planning & Design Lead

Sage & Ceremony is a queer-owned wedding planning studio rooted in Richmond, VA and serving couples across Virginia and beyond. We specialize in intimate weddings, elopements, and sacred gatherings that feel deeply personal, beautifully intentional, and true to you. Whether you're planning something simple or wildly magical, we bring calm, creativity, and care to every step of the journey.

We don't believe in cookie-cutter weddings. Every celebration we design is shaped around your values, your rhythm, and your story—not just tradition or trends. We work with couples who want meaning over performance, intimacy over spectacle, and connection over perfection. As a queer-owned, heart-led studio, we hold space for you to show up fully and be seen—exactly as you are.

Working with Sage & Ceremony has been an easy-going and delightful experience since day one. Frannie's friendly, patient, and direct communication allowed the rehearsal and wedding day to flow with ease. She understood our vision and worked diligently with an outstanding, adaptable, and professional approach to make sure everything was perfect, which allowed us to truly enjoy our special day. I am very grateful that we selected Sage & Ceremony, and I would highly recommend their services. Thank you for all that you do!

    Stress-free day

We didn’t want a big production - just a quiet ceremony in the mountains with a small group of friends and family. Frannie helped us design a day that felt like us, without spending a fortune. She supported us with so much gentleness and intention, we'll definitely be reaching out to her for all of our future events. From finding vendors that worked with our needs (even a gluten-free vegan baker!) to helping me create my bouquet from grocery store flowers when we just didn't have the budget for a florist. She helped make our day absolutely perfect, and stress-free, you can't go wrong with her as your planner!

    Adaptability is key!

I've worked with Frannie for a few different events now, a couple elopements, as well as a micro-wedding and a bridal shower. She brings such a grounded presence to every event. She’s impeccably organized but never rigid—always ready to adapt with grace. The events she plans feel soulful and well-paced, which makes my job as a venue director easier and keeps guests relaxed and happy. It’s rare to see this level of intention and warmth in a planner. I highly recommend working with her!

Micro-weddings are our specialty—but they’re not the only thing we love. We also offer planning and coordination for weddings of all sizes, destination weddings, and elopements, as well as small, intentional celebrations like baby showers, engagement dinners, birthdays, vow renewals, and much more. If it’s heartfelt, values-aligned, and rooted in connection—we’re here for it.
Absolutely! Sage & Ceremony is a proudly queer-owned business, and we are deeply committed to creating affirming, inclusive, and celebratory spaces for all love stories.

Yes. We understand that wedding planning is an investment, and we’re happy to work out a flexible payment plan that fits your needs. Most packages are split into 2–4 installments, depending on the timeline, but we're always willing to talk about extending that if needed.
Always. If none of our standard offerings quite fit, we’re happy to build a custom package based on your event, budget, and planning needs.
Yes! Our Sacred Hour package or à la carte options are perfect for couples who want support with just one or two parts of the process—especially for elopements or vow renewals.
A non-refundable retainer is required to secure your date, and all other payments are non-refundable once work has begun. If you need to reschedule due to an emergency or unexpected life change, we’ll do our best to accommodate your new date based on availability. Full cancellation terms are outlined in your client agreement—we believe in clarity and fairness from the very start.
We center meaning, not performance. You won’t find cookie-cutter timelines or upsells here. Instead, we focus on creating grounded, inclusive, soulful experiences that reflect you. Our planning process is calm, collaborative, and infused with intention from start to finish.
