Hey there, I’m Sofi Melvin (she/her), and I love telling a couple's love story through the details of their wedding day! My journey into the world of weddings began with a knack for planning birthday parties, a stint in college recruitment, and juggling my own wedding plans amidst the chaos of a pandemic. Nothing fills me with joy more than watching two humans get married, surrounded by their loved ones. From easing the stress of wedding planning to truly getting to know my clients on a personal level, I thrive on translating my couples' personalities and love stories into a celebration of their journey so far.
We plan personal and intentional weddings for big hearted couples in the Kansas City metropolitan area. What is it that makes a Philosofi couple? Big hearts, a focus on fun, true love, and a couple of quirks!

| Description | So you're newly engaged and super eager to marry your best friend! Except that means you actually have to plan this whole wedding, which isn’t really your jam. You work full time and would much rather spend those non-working hours playing with your pups or organizing a community clothing drive than wedding planning. Let me take care of all the dirty details, from finding venues to tour all the way to getting you and your boo down the aisle. | As much as you love weddings, you’re a little bit overwhelmed by the idea of trying to plan one from start to finish. With partial planning, we have the flexibility to customize your planning process how you see fit. Need someone to help you create your budget? Just need a guide to touch base with throughout the process? I’m your girl. Once the planning is over, I handle those final tasks and take care of the execution of your wedding. | After all of your work planning a kickass day for you and your guests, you want to take a step back and soak up the memories with your loved ones. You want your mom and friends sipping mimosas and joining you on the dance floor, not making sure dinner gets served on time. My husband and I got married in December 2023 and used Sofi for the entirety of our wedding planning. I'm not great at, nor do I enjoy planning parties/events, but once we explained our general vision, vibe, and hopes for our day, it was obvious Sofi had a clear idea of what we wanted and she hit the ground running. I cannot even fathom what our wedding would've been like without her. Every detail was carefully curated. She stuck to our budget and honestly made everything so enjoyable with her bubbly, fun, and kind personality. She felt like (and I'd like to this was!) a close friend throughout the course of the year that we planned our wedding, and then the day of the wedding came and she was all business (I mean that in the most respectful and awe-inspiring way). Her and her team could not have made the day easier or more stress-free for us. She was on top of everything and her attention never wavered from doing everything she could to make it the best day ever for us. There was even a small detail that was wrong with our drink menu at the bar; we had incorporated our dogs' names and a sketch of them, and the wrong sketch had been placed next to the wrong dog name. We wouldn't have been upset in the slightest, and yet Sofi made a call and had the corrected drink menu on its way within seriously only 20 minutes! Our special day just would not have been the same without Sofi's calm demeanor, attention to detail, and unique eye for design.
HIRE SOFI!!!
100/100 - would hire again. I knew that hiring a wedding planner wasn’t just a want, but an absolute NEED for us (for me, really). And once that decision was made, I went to all my trusty wedding vendor friends and read all of their vendor recommendations and found Sofi. The moment we had our first call to the day of, Sofi was a gem! On our initial call she asked what my budget was and details/vision of our day and recommended what service we should go with - there was NO pressure at all. Working with Sofi, I felt like I had someone in my corner. She was there if/when I needed her. I also appreciated the reminder emails she would send out to help keep us on track! Our day would not have been as perfect as it was without her. From start to finish, utter perfection. Even with the little snaffoo with the caterer, Sofi made sure I got something to eat (lactose intolerance brides IYKYK). Hiring Sofi and getting to know her was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Wonderful human all around!
Outstanding experience, exceeded all expectations
We hired Sofi as our wedding manager and we were extremely happy with that decision. We knew we didn't need a full-on planner but from the advice of others, wanted someone to pass off month-of vendor engagement, timeline creation, and day-of logistics to. Sofi was worth it in every way. She's incredibly responsive, knowledgeable about executing a wedding in KC, and had referrals for bakers, event decor, and other vendors we inquired about. She not only accepts same-sex couples as clients but projects a deep, personal commitment to the belief that our love is worth celebrating. Most importantly, she is an incredibly warm, calming presence during what can be a very stressful period. I could tell she genuinely cared about my well-being and wanted the best possible wedding for me and my partner. We are so thankful we found Sofi and would recommend her to others without hesitation.
Best KC wedding planner
My husband and I got married in the Crossroads in April and had the most beautiful day thanks to Sofi! Without her we would not have had the day that we envisioned! Sofi did so much, she was in constant communication with vendors, flipped the ceremony space into a reception space, checked in on us throughout the day to see if we needed anything, and so much more! We cannot thank her enough for everything she did. Our wedding day was flawless because of her! I highly recommend Sofi to anyone looking for a kind and professional wedding planner or coordinator!
