Owner & Photographer

My dad, Van, opened our family owned and operated studio in 1978. His many years of dedication and great relationships with clients grew to a thriving business that he left me when he passed away from cancer in 2012. Our studio had been located in Madera since 1978… but when I became preganant with my third son I decided to take a big leap of faith and move all of my studio operations closer to home in Shaver Lake. Not only do I get to spend more quality time with my precious boys... I also get to work in a landscape made to be captured by a camera!

My photography business didn’t just begin one day when I decided to pick up a camera…I would like to think that I was “destined” to be in the photography industry! I believe that I am more than just a photographer... I become part of your family, your tribe... and each time we work together our images express the connection we have behind the camera.  I absolutely love what I do, and I look forward to working with you in the future!

    Hire Tess!

    Tess was such a professional - I wouldn't hesitate hire her! She knows her stuff / everything run smoothly / the pictures turned out wonderful. We did an engagement session which was a great way for us to get comfortable posing and communicate what we like best. I am so glad Tess was our photographer! I think she is the unofficial Mayor of Shaver Lake :)

Typically, couples book me about 18-9 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
Depending on the package you have chosen, I’ll bring one or more assistant photographers depending on the size of your wedding. This can also be added to smaller packages.
Definitely. All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they look beautiful. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal and teeth whitening for an additional charge.
No, I prefer focusing on photography only, so you can get the best wedding pictures possible. But I close contacts with great videographers I can refer you to.
My turnaround time varies by season. Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 3 weeks after your wedding. Within this time, you can also expect to receive a USB drive with high-resolution image files, so you can share the photos with your loved ones and order prints.
You can expect about 150 images per hour of photographing. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my 20+ years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
