About Poppy and Vine

We are Katie and Joseph, a husband and wife team making up the San Luis Obispo Wedding Photography duo that is Poppy & Vine. We met, fell in love, and founded our business together on the Central Coast of California, and love that we've gotten to make a career out of serving people on their happiest days! We are big fans of climbing mountains, going on road trips, tasting wines & craft beer, spending quality time with new friends and old, and mostly Jesus. We are two easy going people who are just about as goofy as they come, and we are big fans of a good dance party! We're so excited to meet you :)

Our role as photographers goes so far beyond just taking pretty photos. We are here to be part of your support system before and after your wedding day. Wedding planning is a wild season in itself, and we love to use our expertise as wedding professionals, and as a couple who has done the whole (Covid) wedding thing before, to help you plan and celebrate your day with as little stress as possible. Bottom line is, we care about our couples as people first, and seek to make their experience as true to them and positive as possible, with photographs as a byproduct.

    Photography that feels natural and easy

    Choosing Poppy and Vine as our wedding photographers was one of the best decisions we made. From our first conversation, they were simple to work with and answered all our questions without making things complicated. On our wedding day, they blended into the background and captured real moments between us and our guests—nothing felt posed or stiff. What really stood out was how they felt like a friend rather than just someone behind the camera, which made us feel comfortable and relaxed the entire time.     MOST Fun, Professional, AMAZING Photographers!

    Poppy and Vine were the perfect photographers for our wedding day. From the very first phone call, their communication was prompt, professional, and flexible - exactly what we were looking for. Their documentary-style approach captured all the special moments of our day in a high-quality, fun way. They were incredibly flexible, handling all the shots we wanted with ease and no stress. Katie and Joseph are the best in the business - so easy and fun to work with, and they made us feel completely at ease, which really shows in our amazing photos. They even got us a sneak peek within 48 hours! I cannot recommend Poppy and Vine enough - they are kind, thoughtful, and will go the extra mile to get the perfect shot.     wonderful humans / wonderful photographers !!

    My husband and I cannot recommend Poppy and Vine enough. Katie & Jo are two of our dearest friends, so we have the honor of knowing them personally. These two humans are so humble, genuine, caring, and dedicated to people and the work they do. It is evident throughout the photo taking process and your final products how much they care. Katie & Jo have taken all of our important life photos thus far, and will have no choice but to continue to as long as we live near them!! With Poppy and Vine you will have an amazing experience shooting, as Katie & Jo make you feel so comfortable and will bring lots of humor and joy to any occasion - guaranteed. They are also really great at listening to what YOU want. Whether it was our proposal, engagement shoot or last minute COVID wedding, Katie and Jo were able to capture every special moment in a way that highlighted the love and emotion of each.     Absolutely Amazing! Hands down the Best!!

    Oh my goodness!! Katie and Joseph are absolutely ah-mazing!!!! If you’re debating who to go with for your photography, choose Poppy & Vine! They are hands down the best!! Our experience with them was so wonderful, from the weeks leading up to our wedding to after our photos were delivered. They communicated so well to ensure all of our special moments were captured & to really learn who we are as a couple to capture us in all our essence. They made our day so easy & made it so easy to trust them in getting everything we wanted. They are so skilled, sweet & all around wonderful! Definitely recommend 1000%!!!

Heck YES we do!! Though we are based in San Luis Obispo, we love to see the world and being able to capture love while traveling is the DREAM! We will go anywhere, just fly us there and let’s shoot! We also serve San Diego, CA with minimal travel costs to you!
For weddings, we say around 100 images per hour of coverage. For all other shoots, you’ll typically receive around 80 per hour! Included in the price of your session, you’ll receive all the deliverable, fully edited images from your shoot!
YESSSSSS!!! And we HIGHLY recommend it! Your memories belong on your walls and in albums, don’t leave them in your online galleries! Our gallery delivery service allows you to order prints and wall art from your gallery upon delivery. We selected a printing lab that produces BEAUTIFUL high quality prints that fulfills orders quickly and painlessly for you :)
Though this is highly unlikely, recent times show this CAN happen. If we cannot be present at your wedding due to emergency/illness/etc., we have a well trusted group of photographer friends who would drop everything to be there for your day. We will edit your photos even if another photographer takes them!
We consider each other our personal assistants and co-photographers. All our packages include both of us so we don't miss a single moment of your day :)
Our turnaround time for weddings is currently four weeks for digital gallery delivery, and six weeks for physical delivery (all your photos on a custom drive with some extra goodies!).
We've tried the whole video thing, and we feel that our talents are best utilized when dedicated to photography. However, we've made some close videographer friends in the industry that we frequently work with and are happy to recommend them!
Absolutely! We like to have all our bases covered. Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
Yes! We are the ones who edit all of your photos to our quality standards. We edit mainly for light and color, but will also photoshop anything overly distracting or temporary out of your photos for you!
My rule of thumb with Photoshop is if an obstacle or blemish is temporary or distracting, I’ll Photoshop it out (I’m always posting little examples of this on my Instagram stories!). I do firmly believe in the photos we create together capture a specific moment in time and in your story, so any retouching past a temporary blemish is not something I will do.
