Kendra Smith is a documentary-style photographer and videographer working in 35mm, 120, and Super 8 film, where she focuses on honest emotion and documentary integrity. Inspired by the intimacy of Eve Arnold and the elegance of Slim Aarons, she blends portraiture with unfiltered storytelling—capturing raw emotion in images that are candid, cinematic, and timeless.
Kendra has been photographing people, places, and things since she was a kid. Weddings came naturally as she picked up her first digital in 2016 and continued to take on weddings while working full-time. After years of in-house photography work with various marketing positions, she decided to pursue her own business in 2021. Her experience as a photographer ranges from weddings, events, to studio and editorial photography. She is passionate about stories and how we all find our place in the world and capturing the beauty in the big and small moments. From the individual to the collective, she hopes to capture what is true and honest.

She gets it
Kendra was phenomenal. She gets it. She understood that I didn’t really want traditional wedding photos so heavily focused on capturing the big moments during the wedding (she captured those too), but that I really wanted photos that captured the moments I didn’t get to see — the couples (my friends!) huddled in a corner cuddling as they ordered drinks, our family members meeting each other for the first time and engaged in what looked like a hilarious conversation, the rabbits that happened to hop across our wedding venue just as the sun was setting, and a candlelit conversation between me and Spencer that I didn’t know anyone saw. Kendra saw these moments and captured them so I could witness them later and experience a completely different and beautiful side of my wedding that you often miss, forget or disregard when you’re the bride and so overwhelmed. She blended in, she also mentored our videographer who was new to this field and very much appreciated the tips, and she struck the perfect balance between being professional and personal. I can’t recommend Kendra more highly. Her photos — ESPECIALLY THE FILM — are truly art. If you want your photos to capture your unique personalities and that of your guests and celebration you create, hire Kendra.

The first thing I did for wedding planning was booking Kendra. And hiring her was best decision I made for our wedding! I audibly gasped when I saw our sneak peeks and I don’t know how she did it, but the full gallery was even better!! She is so personable and her incredible talent shows through in her work. We truly cannot say enough good things about our wedding photographer! From the very beginning, she was so thoughtful, organized, and genuinely fun to be around. She made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, which is not an easy thing to do, and somehow captured every moment so naturally and beautifully. When we got our gallery back, we were honestly blown away. The photos were better than we could have ever imagined — emotional, artistic, candid, and full of so much joy. Kendra Smith - best decision of our wedding!
Kendra's casual but impactful documentary style combined with her skills in shooting film was why we chose to work with her for our wedding. Her style represented us perfectly, and she was professional and caring from the very beginning of the process all the way to the end. On the actual wedding day, she was stealth and adaptive to everything that happened. She made sure our shot list was followed but somehow also managed to capture every little unpredictable moment that made the day so special to us.
