I found myself photographing weddings 5 years ago. Before that I was into documentary and travel photography. I traveled the world doing it. My passion for love stories began after a friend asked me to photograph their wedding. It was the most intimate experience for me, the deep connection and the responsibility I was granted by my friend felt nothing but honorable. After that I decided to give it a go. Fast forward, today my style is candid and non-obtrusive and of course I work with posing and I’m really good at giving people directions. My passion is to observe my subjects and capture them in a very natural, honest and uncontrived way.

I like to grasp the reality and I try to stay true to my style of photography and also to the couples story and I preserve their authenticity along with mine if that makes sense. I do not use a ton of gear, I work with 2 digital cameras and 3 lenses. I also shoot on film.

    Beautiful work!

    Marilia did an excellent job capturing our wedding day! The photos are beautiful. We received a sneak peak of our film photos just a few days after the wedding and the entire gallery 1 month after our event which is a great turnaround time especially considering that I know she worked several other events in that month. Before the wedding day, Marilia sent us a form to complete to let her know of an details before our wedding day which was helpful to communicate with her in an organized way. She also met with us to hear more about special moments and people that we wanted her to focus on during the event. Marilia was able to capture tons of beautiful candid shots without too much direction and was not at all disruptive or distracting during our special moments. Marilia went above and beyond by staying an extra 45 minutes just because she saw the party really getting started when it was her scheduled time to leave. We greatly appreciate all of her efforts and we are so happy that we chose her to capture our day and have her photos to look at for generations to come!

    NO WORDS!

    I have NO WORDS to describe how much we loved working with Marilia! From the beginning, she totally understood our vision and assured us that even though we are (self-proclaimed) extremely awkward in front of the camera, she’d help us get some awesome photos. BOY did she deliver! She made us feel so at ease all day and truly captured the wedding the way it was. I have no clue how she was able to capture all the love, joy, and absolute debauchery so authentically, but we are so grateful she did. She didn’t miss a single moment! Typically, my husband and I feel so uncomfortable on camera but we absolutely adored how these photos came out. She did such a great job capturing the day as it was - we didn’t have to think about posing, she just captured it all! I could go on and on for paragraphs about how great Marilia is, but just know that if you’re looking for a very cool, professional, kind photographer who will capture your wedding in a super authentic way, Marilia is the way to go!

    Highly Recommend Marilia Lima Photography

    Marilia Lima Photography was a wonderful choice for our wedding photographer. Marilia was clear, organized, and professional in their communication with us throughout the entire process. Their work is meaningful, intentional and one of a kind. We selected them for their style which is natural, candid, and dreamy. Marilia was present and patient with Patrick, me and our families throughout the whole day, helping to capture the day with ease and grace. It was end of June and a little drizzly and Marilia embraced this and was able to capture some truly stunning detail shots in the rain. We did not do a first look so we did all our pictures after the ceremony and it never felt rushed; we were very at peace and were even able to make it to the cocktail hour. We were grateful for this. Marilia offers film as part of their standard packages, and I would highly recommend including this - one of my favorite shots so far is one they got of us under my veil on film. Typically, couples book me about 13 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
You can expect about 80 to 100 images per hour of photographing. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
In my 8 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding (which never happened) I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
My turnaround time varies by season. Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 4-6 weeks after your wedding.
No, I prefer focusing on photography only, so you can get the best wedding pictures possible. But I can recommend videographers.
