Hi! I'm Kayla, owner and lead photographer at Kayla Rice Photography. I’m a Boston based documentary wedding photographer. I am a trained photojournalist who discovered a passion for capturing love in all its forms. I started my business with the goal of creating an experience for those who might be looking for something more authentic and unposed.

Photographing weddings is a dream job for me. It allows me to flex my strength in narrative, journalistic photography by telling the story of your wedding day from the margins without becoming a character in that story. I started my business with the goal of creating an experience for those who might be looking for something more authentic and unposed. I value creating honest, candid images that reflect the truth, emotion, & importance of your relationships and love. I believe it’s an honor to capture these intimate moments and truly appreciate the trust and openness given to me to allow me to do what I do.

    Wonderful experience!

    Choosing Kayla as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! From the very beginning, she was incredibly responsive, easy to communicate with, and made the entire process feel effortless. Every question we had was answered quickly, and we always felt like we were in good hands. Neither of us really knew what we were doing in front of a camera, so we appreciated Kayla's guidance throughout both our engagement session and wedding day. She helped us with how to stand and look in a way that felt completely natural. We felt comfortable, confident, and were able to relax and enjoy the moment. That also allowed her to capture so many genuine, candid photos that truly reflect us. What we love most about Kayla's work is how timeless and authentic it feels. The photos are beautifully edited without looking overdone, and they truly capture the emotion, joy, and personality of the day. We were also thrilled by how quickly she delivered our engagement photos and wedding preview gallery.     Excellent

    Kayla Rice photographed our wedding in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her documentary style was exactly what we hoped for. Nothing looked posed, yet every image was composed perfectly. She captured the real action and emotion of the day without ever feeling intrusive. We’ve gone back to the photos many times since, and each time they bring the day back in vivid detail. As someone who values authenticity and precision, I appreciate how Kayla delivered both. We’re very glad we chose her for our wedding.

    Outstanding Photographer

    We hired Kayla Rice Photography as our wedding photographer and we are so happy we did, her work is outstanding. Kayla has a journalistic style of photography so she captures those special moments, peoples expressions and their reactions. The photos from that day show the love and emotions of me, my husband and our family and close friends. Kayla is very kind and polite and has a very calming, professional way about her work on what can be a stressful day for some couples. And she put us to ease as we are not typically comfortable in front of a camera.The photos are fantastic and looking at them Kayla captured the love and happiness shared by all in attendance.     Kayla was absolutely incredible to work with. Her ability to find the special little moments is incredible. We were both nervous about being in front of a camera and Kayla quickly put us at ease. She was extremely professional and organized in the time leading up to our wedding. For the wedding, she brought a second shooter, Josh Kuckens, to capture everything from multiple angles. She was wonderful to work with and extremely knowledgeable. Even in the hectic moments of the wedding day, she was calm, collected, and got every combination of people that we requested! Her pricing was reasonable and was worth every single penny. Many of the moments she captured brought us to tears. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, Kayla is the one!

Yes! Almost all of my wedding collections include a second photographer and I almost always recommend having one. I work with experienced, talented photographers who all run their own wedding photography businesses.
No, but I have some great recommendations for talented videographers that I've worked with before that I'm happy to share.
I send out a sneak peek gallery with around 10-15 images within 48 hours of your wedding. My turnaround time for your full wedding gallery varies by season. Your photos will be delivered within 12 weeks after your wedding, but more typically, photos will be delivered between 4-6 weeks.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
You can expect about 75 to 100 images per hour of photography coverage. Keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
In my experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my experienced associates or my contracted second photographer. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
Typically, couples book me about 6-12 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
