I’ve been making pictures since I was 12. My parents gave me an ancient 35mm Konica Autoreflex camera, told me to get after it, and the rest, as they say, is history. My role as a photographer is to capture the rare, vulnerable, epic, extraordinary, and wonderfully ordinary moments of life, as well as the beautiful details in between. I strive to make images that come from the heart and will tell your story for years to come. Also, I might cry at your wedding. It happens.

I'm a believer in beauty. I love people. I can't help but experience complete joy if given even the slightest opportunity. I work best with people who embrace adventure and delight in the non-traditional. I can't help but feel like I'm the luckiest human in the world because I get to join an extraordinary moment with you, as an artist and a witness, and capture it for a lifetime. Also, I'm totally down to dance with Aunt Winnie, deliver cake to the grandparents, and play tag with the toddlers. And lastly, but most importantly ... Love is Love. Black Lives Matter.     I cannot say enough amazing things about Jo!!! I wish I could give her more than 5 stars! She is an incredible human that really cares about everyone she works with - which is sooo important. It's just an added bonus that she makes amazing photos as well! From the first inquiry, she responded very quickly and made me feel so at ease with the entire process. We hopped on a zoom and I honestly forgot that we were talking about hiring a photographer for a minute because we just got to chatting and everything felt so natural. She is super organized and incredibly knowledgeable about all things photography. It was also helpful that she lived near our wedding venue - because she knew so much about the area that we weren't super familiar with. By the amount of things I ran by her in terms of hotels, food, location logistics, etc - she could have been our planner! My husband and I did our first ever photo shoot together with Jo for our engagement photos to meet Jo and get comfortable in front of the camera and we were BLOWN away with the entire process and results! She made us feel so comfortable, brought us a little treat, and we had a blast running around a field with her. The photos came out amazingggg and made us so excited for our big day! It rained on our wedding day and Jo was consistently the person I felt like I gravitated towards to calm my nerves. She was able to get creative and find amazing ways to capture our day from start to finish, even if we had to adjust! She kept everything so light and fun, yet stayed organized and on top of every single detail throughout the day. She has an incredible eye for finding the "moments between the moments" that are organic and so natural. You can really feel every emotion that the people in her photos are going through. Overall, I cannot recommend Jo enough!!! She is an unreal photographer, but also wore all the hats (coordinator, driver, field frolicker, weather woman, therapist, White Mountain expert, etc.) during/before our big day. I would HIGHLY recommend!!!

    Knowing that our wedding day would pass in the blink of an eye, choosing a photographer who could capture all the little moments of the big day (especially those we'd inevitably miss) was one of our top priorities. To say Johanna delivered is the understatement of the century. She has an incredible eye and a knack for finding and documenting perfect, candid moments. As a couple uncomfortable in front of the camera, Jo managed to photograph incredible portraits that felt like us. No hair sniffing required! We were lucky to have had the chance to work with Jo twice, as she shot our beachside elopement and big reception. She's a joy to work with, and brings a warmth and enthusiasm to her work that is hard to find. Beyond her professional nature (she's always quick to respond, offer a suggestion, and send sneak peeks with an unbelievably speedy turnaround), Jo is truly an artist, and I can't recommend working with her enough.

    Jo’s love of capturing wild nature and sweet, small moments is the reason I chose her for our wedding photographer. Our wedding day was going to be casual, fun and intimate. I knew I didn’t want many staged photos and have always felt weird in the spotlight. I was looking for someone to capture the magical, natural moments of our special day without it feeling intrusive. Jo had the incredible ability to capture the moments we knew we wanted and surprised us with documenting all the other smaller moments we didn’t even think we needed. These captured quiet moments are what my husband and I cherish the most. Jo was the perfect mix of professionalism, flexibility and passion. She made our day feel organic and fun and we trusted her completely in her artistic ability. We had several meetings before the wedding where details were hashed out so that on the day of the wedding, everything ran smoothly, and effortlessly. Her price is extremely affordable and she gives you a hard copy (thumb drive) and digital copy to her prints, which was very helpful. If you are looking for an artistic, reliable and passionate photographer, Johanna is the perfect photographer. I know my husband and I are forever grateful to have chosen her for our special day.

    Jo was so kind and easy to work with. Her photography style fit with our whimsical woodland themed wedding. Personally, she was easy to relate to and we felt very comfortable asking questions and chatting during the big day. We think that she was the best vendor we had and we still stick by that! If you plan to have any outdoor or outdoor themed wedding, Jo is your person. Another plus - she loved that we had our dog at the wedding and got THE BEST photos of him all dressed up and ready to party. We feel so lucky to have worked with her and that her bright personality shows through the photos she takes!
