My name is Joel Martinez, I'm a wedding and event photographer based in Sussex County New Jersey. Born in The Bronx, I grew up in Monroe, NY. I spent my early years traversing through the streets of NYC. I now live in New Jersey. I visit the city often. I studied Communication at the University at Buffalo - SUNY, where I discovered my love for photography. I am also a member of NYC Prime Shot. When I’m not taking pictures of people and events, I love to travel the world, play video games, watch movies and anime, play basketball, and take pictures of my dog Mikey!

My goal is to show the beauty, grace, strength, and enthusiasm of people. I focus on non-models and place regular people in situations that highlight an aspect of who they are. I strive for a sense of integrity and fortitude in my work. As your photographer, you will discover an individual who is willing to go that extra mile, spending the time necessary to give you the service that you deserve

    Reached out to Joel after generic message from him. Based on his initial pricing listed on his page, Zola matched us. I sent an inquiry with some extra details and he rudely replied “your budget is way too low”. He did not even ask what I am looking for specifically to see if there is a potential to do business together. Unprofessional.

    We found Joel in Thumbtack and we are so lucky that we stumbled upon his profile. Joel’s been a pleasure to work with! From our pre-nup photos leading up to our wedding day, he’s been patient, communicative and flexible with our needs. We appreciate that he listened to us and incorporated what we asked him. He went above and beyond our expectations. Customer service was remarkable! I appreciate the fact that he is flexible with his contract that caters to his client’s needs. Joel is also a talented photographer. He does portrait shots, drone shots and different events! He is a personable, professional and patient. I think these traits along with him being a skilled photographer will take him on the top of his profession.     I called Joel two weeks before my wedding (3/25/2022) in a frantic, other (videographer) told me it was not enough time, but Joel called me right back and reassured me he was available on the date of the event. Joel arrived on time and captured every special and beautiful moments, some I had no idea were captured, the drone and audio moments are unbelievable. Joel exceeded my expectation with his work, and eye for the smallest and precious moments. If you are looking to have video at and upcoming events I recommend Joel cause he will go above and beyond to deliver you exceptional video and audio. Thank you!
