About C’est La Vie Photographie

C’est La Vie Photographie

Owner/Photographer

Hi there! My name is Tonya, it’s great to meet you! I am a mom to two kiddos who loves capturing memories. If you’re here, that means congratulations are in order on your engagement! Wedding planning, while stressful, is such an exciting journey leading to the start of your lives together. My hope is to capture those moments for you to relive over and over again throughout your lives. I have been photographing weddings since 2018. It’s a joy that I can’t put into words. Seeing two people love one another, capturing the creativity of each individual and unique wedding, it’s something I love having the opportunity to do!

I strive to treat each and every one of my couples as if they are my own family. The big day means just as much to me, as it does to you. Not only will you hire a photographer that is passionate about her career - you will also have someone that is willing to help however they can. Nervous about the timeline? No problem, I’m happy to help guide you along the best path for the most coverage! Worried about not ‘being photogenic?’ Don’t fret, I promise the camera will love you just the way you. That worry is also why I include an engagement in every collection. It gives you the chance to get used to the camera and me a chance to know you!

We hired Tonya in June 2024 to shoot our engagement and wedding photos, paying in full. Despite a rough start with Tonya arriving late to the engagement shoot, we moved forward. However, after adjusting our wedding date in December due to an unforeseen circumstance with the venue (with Tonya’s approval), we were shocked to learn in June—just months before the wedding—that Tonya had reassigned our shoot to another photographer without prior notice. Unhappy with the replacement and Tonya's lack of communication and professionalism, we chose to walk away from the contract and hire a new photographer, even at a financial loss.

Hi Brad and Tori, While I was expecting this type of review after refusing to cave in to tactics regarding the use of a refund in the form of a bribe to stave off a bad review, I have to say that I am a bit surprised by the lack of information/detail in your review. There are several key things left out that I would be happy to shed some light on. Here are the main points to touch on, as I am limited on space to reply: In June 2024, you signed a contract with C’est La Vie Photographie. As stated; the contract is between yourselves and the company as a whole; this is in the very first section of said contract. I never mentioned another company being the one to photograph as that is not the case. It is solely me responsible for editing and coordinating and my associate photographer would be the one photographing that day. The associate is part of CLV Photographie at the time of shooting, not their own entity. This is standard in the wedding industry, especially amongst photographers, videographers and DJ’s. When you and Brad had to reschedule the wedding, I was able to accommodate date changes as I have a wonderful team of photographers working for me. While I understand that you were upset about the ‘lack of transparency’ regarding the associate photographer, things like that are not set in stone typically until 30 days prior to the wedding, most umbrella companies even wait until 3-7 days prior. The engagement session: I do admit that I am human and made an error in not having my memory card’s that day. Looking back on the messages, I arrived at 10, right when we were scheduled to start. At 10:02, I messaged and let you guys know that I forgot the memory cards but would run over to a store to pick up a new one right away. I arrived back to the parking area at 10:33. I was not an hour late at any given period of time. I made every remedy to fix it immediately. Also to mention, this was a last minute squeeze in due to needing a reschedule on your end for the engagement session, as well. I happily accommodated. As far as not being contacted between December and June, this is another industry standard. Final consultations are done 7-14 days prior to wedding. Initially, you stated that you would “really like” to see galleries from my associate photographer. The next line stated that you both trusted me and asked about what options would be available, should you not like the galleries provided to you. When reservations popped up regarding the associate, I was perfectly happy to move things around to be present on your wedding day. Ultimately, the decision was made on your end to part ways. In your message, you reiterated that you were not disputing the contract and understood the terms given. However, in your response, it was evident that the money you requested was solely to keep a bad review from appearing on my websites. Your exact words were: “We would be happy for you to retain $XXX out of the original $XXXX… In exchange, we will offer a written agreement not to post any negative reviews or comments explaining our frustrations on any relevant websites or otherwise…” In this response, you made it very clear that a refund was solely to be used as a form of hush money to keep the events of the past couple of days quiet. Fortunately, I am not that type of person. I have never asked any of my clients, former or current, to leave me a review. People have feelings, and that is perfectly acceptable. I wish you both a happy future! Tonya

We signed with Tonya in June of 2024 with a paid-in-full discount to shoot both our wedding and engagement photos after reviewing her portfolio. The contract stated that she would be shooting our wedding except for any last minute "acts of god" or sudden illnesses. While we were totally willing to overlook her lack of preparedness on the day of our engagement photos when she was an hour late because of forgotten equipment, it became impossible to overlook her actions leading up to the wedding day. In December of 2024, we had contacted her asking if SHE would be available for a seven day shift to our wedding date in August as we had unforeseen circumstances with our venue. She responded back that "we can move it to August 30th" and provided no further details or exceptions. In June, about 2.5 months before our wedding date, we decided to contact her as she had not reached out since December to finalize our day-of schedule. It was not until this point that she decided to inform us that she was no longer intending to shoot our wedding because of the date change made almost 6 months prior and that another photographer from a completely different company would be shooting our wedding in her place. Not only had we not heard of this new photographer or her company, but we were completely unimpressed by her portfolio that was shown to us. At this point, we felt betrayed and cornered by the person who we had trusted with a very important part of our special day. Obviously, we did not want to move forward with the new photographer, nor Tonya, who had been so unprofessional with the handling of our contract. She refused our offer to pay her for the engagement photos at her own posted rates to split amicably and instead she insisted on keeping the full amount of the contract because she felt that her offer to switch the dates back after we expressed our concerns fulfilled her end of the contract. Ultimately, we decided that we would prefer to forgo the cost of Tonya's contract and sign with another photographer that we can trust to treat our wedding day as a priority rather than a commodity to be traded out without our notice.

C’est La Vie was absolutely fantastic to work with her work is beautiful and I would highly recommend booking her for anything you need photography. Photos for my engagement session was gorgeous. My wedding photos are absolutely stunning and she sends sneak peaks very quickly after wedding which is so nice to have while waiting on the other photos. She was great to work with the Day Of and leading up to. She was very reliable and was able to be reached at basically any time of the day I would definitely book her again in the future for anything that I will need photos for. Thankyou Tonya for bringing my wedding to life

We loved working with C’est La Vie Photographie. The editing on all our pictures was so beautiful and they were able to instruct us in exactly what to do in the pictures. They turned out so beautifully!
