Bridge | Elevated Wedding Imagery

Meet Karrie and Mark

Key West wedding photography team documenting your day of love and laughter with the highest standards of craft and creativity. In a whirlwind of timeless moments and heartfelt celebrations, we're there to capture your moments with care and preserve the joy of the experience from start to finish. Born of a partnership between Karrie Porter and Mark Funkhouser, you’re getting two professionals with the perfect mix of experience, personalities, artistic and technical strengths, and the goal to provide you with vibrant, true-to-life, high-quality photos you’ll treasure for life.

Couples love our - Style - (bold, vibrant, & artistic. No trendy filters; true-to-life skin tones; skies & surroundings show the tropical colors of the locale), our - Editorial Approach - (document moments that unfold naturally; direct magazine-worthy images when appropriate), our - Lighting - (use of supplemental lighting gives us full creative control no matter the situation. Most photographers don't bother because it's challenging and expensive), and our - Symbiosis - (most studios contract a second as needed; whereas our years of experience & complementary skills blend perfectly to be two genuine partners both for each other & for you)

    Key West February Wedding

Bridge Elevated Wedding Imagery was great to work with during our wedding day, and the proofs we received were absolutely beautiful. Communication was handled through email, which worked well at first. However, it's now been four months since our wedding and we haven't been able to get in touch with them despite multiple attempts. We paid 5,700 for our photos and are still waiting to receive the final pictures, which has forced us to involve an attorney. If you're thinking about booking them, make absolutely sure to get a firm date in writing for when you'll receive your finished photos. This is something we wish we had done from the start.

    Look no further

We had looked at a few photographers before our Key West wedding, but we really liked a more colorful style and had certain ideas about how to record our day. Meeting these guys in person sealed the deal. They’re brimful of enthusiasm, love what they do, and are experienced and very, very good at their work. Over the course of the lovely - but rather chaotic - day, they somehow managed to seamlessly dance between capturing beautiful formal shots and staged shots and a whole selection of the sort of candid, fun shots that we really wanted. They managed to effortlessly work with our crazy gathering of people of all ages and nationalities, finding perfect angles and perfect backdrops, corralling our guests when needed, and encouraging a smile even on the most camera-shy people. We've gone through our album at last twenty times and each time, that keen eye for capturing the really important moments and the sheer variety of shots (I don’t know how they seemed to be in all places at once on the day...) brings it all magically back to life. If you want spectacular service and perfect photos, but don't want to have to worry about any of it on the day - Bridge is far and away your obvious choice.

    Ecstatic with our Elopement

I was looking for a photographer for my elopement, and even though I knew we wouldn’t need a full day of coverage, we didn’t just want the typical “stand on the beach and smile” shots either. I feel like every other website we looked at, either was a photographer whose style we liked and had the professional background we wanted, but only offered full day events, or if they did micro weddings, they seemed to be newer or had that whitewashed look where you can’t even see the sunset. No thanks. Anyway we finally found these guys and they were exactly what we were looking for. I could tell from the quality of the photos that they’d be able to maximize a shorter time frame but still get really beautiful pictures. I emailed and received a response same day. I had emailed some other folks (officiants, tour guides etc) and some never responded. Not Karrie though, from the moment I contacted I felt in good hands. It was such a relief. I was traveling to a place I had never been for one of the most important days of my life and these pictures would capture this special moment for all our friend and family who could not be there. The best part was the pictures turned out beautiful. Their team really listens to what you want, gave creative input when needed, and took their time with us. I never felt rushed. Highly recommend! If you’re eloping in the Florida Keys, you absolutely must call these guys.

    Excellent Experience

From the moment we first reached out, their communication was incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and professional. The expertise is really shown in their creative mindset and I am not kidding when I say some of the photos they shared as we were shooting had my jaw actually drop. They gave us clear instructions on how to pose and move during the photos, which is not something you think about but definitely made a difference and actually made it fun. They also handled any situations proactively without us needing to be involved, allowing us to simply enjoy our special day. They had wonderful personalities and it felt like we had known them our whole lives - they were very down-to-earth and adjusted their involvement and instruction based on the needs of each moment. We joked later that this must be what it feels like to be famous, but without any of the pressure, because they just took such great care of us. We are over the moon with the results.

100% Yes. We realize that most couples are not professional models, nor do you want to feel like you’re “posing” all day. This is where we stand out and is probably the most commented-on attribute of our shooting style. As much work as goes into learning how to work a camera, SOOO many photographers don’t ever bother to learn how to direct a scene. We believe everyone benefits from a little creative direction, which we have perfected so that it flows naturally, is not stiff or overly scripted, but still leaves you feeling confident and looking your best.
Yes. This is a common question, though after 24 years of capturing so-called ‘candids,’ I can reassure you that most "quote unquote candid moments" that you see in wedding galleries still involved some degree of direction. Sure, some people are naturally expressive, stand tall, gesture gracefully without thinking and are spatially aware of nearby tables, exit signs, and distracting background elements. Others benefit from a gentle reminder to adjust posture, turn slightly, or lean into the light. We remain unobtrusive when we can, but step in as creative directors when needed so your candids feel natural but also flattering.
As a full service photography studio, your wedding images will be adjusted for optimum highlights and shadows, contrast, and artistic finishes added as needed. This is done on every photo delivered in your gallery. Not with presets, but done by hand by our dedicated editor. For prints and albums, we go one step further with complimentary retouching, removing things like flyaway hairs, facial blemishes, sunburn lines, and undereye circles. We'll also whiten teeth, remove stains and small distractions from the background. Light body shaping/tightening is also included, with extensive requests available as needed for an additional fee.
This is such an important question because even among photography professionals, there are some of us who have the gear and experience to handle this situation and some who do not. Mainland, mountain, or midwest photographers who fly in to the Keys to shoot on occasion have to suddenly rethink their settings, gear, and technique - we do not. This is where we shoot year round, and are very comfortable working in even the harshest lighting conditions. Now, would we PREFER a noon ceremony with no open shade anywhere to be seen? Definitely not. But CAN we shoot in that harsh light and still make something beautiful? Absolutely. :)
We LOVE shooting in low-light and it’s arguably one of the skills that we feel really sets us apart from our colleagues. We’ve done ceremonies that start after sunset for religious reasons, receptions under the stars on the beach, dance floors under the glow of string lights, night shoots around town to avoid the heat, and inside fortress venues that are like a photographic black hole (okay…maybe that's a bit dramatic, but yes, we got great photos there too). Short version, we'll need time to set up lighting accordingly, but yes it is something we are equipped to handle and comfortable with.
Full day weddings are captured by Karrie and Mark, so you’re getting 2 Lead Photographers. Depending on the size, scope, and logistics, we may recommend an additional photographer to help cover specific elements of the day (ie, a ceremony venue with tight restrictions on photographer movement, a guest activity that will happen simultaneously with other coverage we have to get with you as the couple, a desire for a social media wedding content creator), or we may schedule an additional Assistant to come and help us at our discretion.
YES! We live, work, and contribute year-round in paradise, with deep ties to the Key West community. While we do occasionally travel for established clients, our home base and daily presence are rooted here. The Keys are a unique market where hiring local gives you peace of mind: with limited nonstop airlines and only one road in or out, you avoid the risks of flight delays or road closures, or checked gear gone missing disrupting your day. We’ve rescued more than a few colleagues coming into the area from those very situations, and it's why especially in the Keys, you should hire locally.
