About Big Day Event Illustration

Christina

Founder

Big Day Event Illustration specializes in live illustration for weddings and events. I draw digitally- in an organic, fashion influenced line style, capturing guests one by one as printed 4×6 portraits they take home that night. My newest service, Day Drawn, is live editorial wedding illustration: I roam the day with an iPad, drawing the moments, details and scenes that make a wedding specifically yours, and deliver it as a hardcover illustrated book made to be an heirloom that is meant to be passed down.

I’ve been drawing my whole life, and I've trained professionally. At an event, that shows up in the small things: the tilt of a head, the way someone laughs with their whole face. Guests look at their portrait and say, “That’s me.” Because I draw digitally, there’s no waiting and no single original passed around. Every portrait is printed on the spot, and guests can share copies with the people who’d want one. After the event, the whole collection lives in an online gallery. The goal is simple: everyone who sits down walks away feeling seen (especially on a day when they look their best!).

Christina and her team are amazing!

I’m so glad we booked her to do live portraits of our guests! She was so kind, funny, and incredibly talented. The portraits were amazing, and our guests are still talking about how much they enjoyed the experience. She made everyone feel comfortable and gave them something special to take home. I can’t recommend her enough!

I was seeking an addition to our party very last minute & came across Christina in a Facebook group. She was amazing and fit right in with our guests! Everyone loved her and she did a great job at matching the minimalist style I wanted for our sketches. Highly recommend :)

The absolute highlight of my wedding!! Christina was so great to work with and made coordinating such a breeze. All of my guests LOVED their take home photos. Such a unique way to capture the day! I will recommend over and over again to friends and family!

For a black and white portrait (this can include a pop of color), I aim to keep it in the 7 minute range (per person). This allows me to fully capture guests in a way I see fit (paying special attention to a fun pattern or accessory). Full color can take a few minutes longer. In order to expedite drawings in a timely manner, I typically focus on the torso and face. I am happy to offer full color/full body portraits with the understanding that this will take longer.
While we would loooooove to provide a sketch for every single guest, it’s typically not possible during an event period. We do, however, provide portraits for many guests. Guests who do not wish to be drawn are usually interested in observing/peeking over our shoulders :) It’s safe to say our service is a highlight of events! If you do wish to provide an illustration for everyone- you may want to explore our commission option.
Yes- we love to travel! We are currently based in Philadelphia. We do charge a travel fee that covers our team’s expenses such as flight, hotel, food, and transportation. If you are outside of a 30 mile radius from where we are located, we charge a travel fee as well.
Yes! Your team is welcome to design the template (we will provide the requirements) or we can design a template based on the style you are looking for
We ask for a table with enough space for the number of illustrators hired, chairs for each illustrator, and close proximity to electric (within a few feet is ideal). Please don’t put us in a dark spot! :) Semi lit- to well lit areas are ideal (thank you!). We welcome florals or tea lights for the table!
When guests approach our table, one of our illustrators will take a photo to reference. That way, guests can enjoy the event and pick up their completed portrait at the end! All guests are welcome to watch the live drawing process. To accommodate as many guests as possible, we limit one portrait per person.
