  • Disappointing Experience After Ownership Change

    I got married in September 2025 and waited to write this because I struggled to articulate my experience. I originally signed with the company in December 2024 under the previous owner; the business was purchased by Emily and Shannon in April 2025. My contract was for their highest-tier package at the time—four mixed cocktails plus unlimited wine, beer, cider, and seltzer. We supplied all alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and ingredients; they supplied the trailers, staff, water, lemonade, insurance, etc. (what is now their “Dry Hire” service). After the ownership change, they asked me to sign a new contract less than two months before the wedding—something I only learned when I asked about paying the remaining balance. I declined, as my signed contract was valid. They also attempted to add a 20% mandatory tip on top of a tip jar, even though we were providing all materials. After back and forth, that was reversed. We still tipped about 10% day-of to acknowledge the communication issues and avoid seeming rude. As the wedding approached, I requested that cocktails be batched, and they agreed. However, the shopping list they sent lacked crucial details—like “3 jars of luxardo cherries” with no jar size or “5 bottles of vodka” with no volume. Mixer quantities were similarly vague. Clarifying questions took days and were often only partially answered. With less than five days before the wedding, I still didn’t have clear guidance. Calls went to voicemail; when we finally connected, I had to go line-by-line through unresolved questions. The tone was dismissive, and I was told, “I know how much your guests will drink,” when I was simply asking for baselines. The owners also contradicted each other on multiple points, adding to the confusion. I later noticed an overcharge. I said they could keep the difference as part of their tip, but they refunded it without issuing an updated receipt, leaving mismatched records. On the wedding day, they arrived early (which I appreciated) but set up in the wrong location. Despite agreeing to batch cocktails, nothing was batched, causing 30 minute lines. They also carded guests—including clearly over-21 adults—without any prior notice. Several guests, including members of our wedding party without wallets, couldn’t get drinks. I understand OLCC rules, but a warning would have been courteous. Guests reported inconsistent drink quality, fluctuating flavors, and drinks often lacking ice—despite seven unopened bags remaining. They didn’t introduce themselves or say goodbye, aside from a quick comment to my husband as they left. Despite all the planning around quantities, we ended up with significant waste. Personalized napkins went untouched while blank ones were opened. They had us buy large Costco bags of lemons and oranges but used less than half of one. They opened three bottles of white wine and used only half of each. They had us make 13 pounds of honey syrup and used only a quarter. They also had us make simple syrup and buy sugar cubes but used none of it. It also concerns me that previous positive reviews disappeared after the ownership change. I hoped my experience was just a transition issue, but the confusion, miscommunication, and inefficiencies leading up to—and on—the wedding day made it impossible to leave a positive review.
