About Mahr String Quartet

Band/Quartet

We specialize in live performances for your wedding, reception, or any special event. We are an Omaha, Nebraska-based string quartet made of professional musicians and teachers. Since meeting in 1997, we have remained close friends and believe that is evident when we play. You can find us performing together about 50 times per year primarily at weddings + corporate parties, but also can be seen and heard accompanying local church and community choirs as well as the occasional benefit concert or educational appearance.

As individuals, we freelance with the Omaha, Lincoln and Des Moines Symphonies and perform as locals with touring acts such as: Josh Groban, Rod Stewart, Quincy Jones, Mary J. Blige, Michael Bublé, Mannheim Steamroller and many Broadway shows. Our large selection of contemporary repertoire, good business sense and the fact that we remain the best of friends after 20 years set us apart from the rest. Description

If your reception is not immediately following the ceremony, we may need to charge for 2 separate events. Because we so appreciate you hiring us to play for both, we will be happy to offer a 10% discount! If you’re not sure, just ask. Custom events sometimes need custom quotes!

The Mahr Quartet wears orchestra black.
We only need 4 chairs (no arms) set up in sort of a square/box. We bring our own music stands. If the location might be dimly lit, we would need to know that so we can bring stand lights.
We arrive 20 minutes before the prelude/event will begin.
The Mahr Quartet does not attend wedding rehearsals. Should a rehearsal be required with a vocalist, it will take place no more than 1 hour before the wedding prelude.
If we are playing a reception or other party, a 15 min break every 90 min is required.
We have played with vocalists many times. If it is someone we are familiar with, a run-through is usually sufficient 15 min before the prelude for no charge. If more rehearsal is necessary we can arrive 1 hour prior to the prelude for an additional fee.
Yes, however we cannot be in direct sunlight for the protection of our instruments. Obviously we would not be able to play in rain or snow.
With 6 weeks notice we can have a song arranged for our group for an additional fee.
Two weeks prior to the wedding is preferred. Melissa can help you pick songs should you need suggestions.
A non-refundable retainer of $250 is due with the receipt of your signed contract. Your balance is then due 14 days prior to the event.
