About DJ Chris Baumann

DJ Chris Baumann

DJ

Since 2013, I’ve crafted wedding soundtracks that feel like you—authentic, surprising, unforgettable. My specialty is sparking those “I forgot how much I loved this” or “How did he know this song means so much?” reactions. Based in Missoula, I serve all of Montana and travel for select weddings in Portland, Seattle, Spokane, and Coeur d’Alene (with travel fees).

I deliver flawless production from start to finish. Every detail is covered: fully battery-powered ceremony sound, wireless mics so every guest hears your vows, and perfectly timed music cues that flow without awkward stops. I can provide discreet sound for live musicians, and my sleek, modern system looks as good as it sounds. You get peace of mind knowing the music is in expert hands—and the soundtrack will be unforgettable.

    Good Energy the Whole Night

DJ Chris Baumann was fantastic to work with for our wedding. He was very easy to communicate with, responsive to our questions and last minute changes, and truly understood what we wanted for our special day. Chris brought such great energy and exceeded our expectations - he was a master at his craft and seamlessly kept the dance floor lively without requiring any handholding from us. We appreciated that he took the time to understand our vision and simply focused on adding to the atmosphere rather than distracting. Chris was a true professional and we couldn't have been happier with his services. Highly recommend!

Exactly What We Were Looking For

Chris totally nailed every aspect of our wedding. The cocktail music, dinner music, and dance party were spot on. The audio set-up for the ceremony worked smoothly. Chris was low maintenance and very easy to communicate with throughout the whole process. I highly recommend him!

    Groomzilla

We were so happy to have found DJ Chris Baumann when we expanded our search to neighboring cities after the local DJs we liked were already booked. Chris was prompt in his communication, accommodating of our unique requests, and made the planning process easy. On the day of our wedding, which was on a boat about 2.5 hours from Chris's home base in Missoula, he came by the day before to check out the space and work out the logistics of setting up his equipment in the unique venue. Chris's great tunes and seamless communication throughout the event contributed greatly to making our special day a huge success. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ to get the party started and keep our guests dancing all night long.

My style is intentional, polished, and personal. I focus on reading the room and weaving together your must-plays with unexpected favorites that keep the energy flowing. You’ll get seamless mixes, professional MC guidance when needed, and a soundtrack that feels authentic to you and your guests — not something pulled from a template.
There’s no extra charge for weddings within 40 miles of Missoula. For events beyond that, I charge $0.85 per mile (round trip). If your celebration is more than 60 miles away, overnight accommodations are required (and always appreciated). Setup and breakdown are included in every package — no surprise fees, ever.
Absolutely. I love weaving guest requests into the night — as long as they fit your vision and keep the energy flowing. Before the wedding, you’ll fill out my Music Personality Questionnaire, which includes must-plays and do-not-plays, so I always know your priorities. On the day of, I use those guidelines to decide which requests make sense. That way the dance floor feels fun and spontaneous, but still authentic to you.
I typically arrive about two hours before guests arrive. This gives me plenty of time to set up, soundcheck, and make sure everything looks and sounds perfect before the first person walks in. For larger or more complex setups, I’ll plan even earlier so there’s never a rush. My goal is to have the music and atmosphere ready to go the moment your guests arrive.
Yes — both. My ceremony setup is fully battery-powered with wireless microphones, so every guest hears your vows clearly no matter the location. Cocktail hour coverage is included too, with a curated playlist that sets the mood as guests mingle. I think of the very first song of the day as the start of a chain that links all the way to the end — the flow is continuous, intentional, and for real.
By reading the room in real time. I don’t just press play on a list — I watch who’s on the floor, who’s at the bar, and what songs light people up. I weave your must-plays with unexpected favorites and build a flow that feels natural. The goal isn’t just a packed floor, but a dance floor that feels alive.
I only take on one event per day, which means when you book me, you get me — fully present and fully committed. I focus on curated sound, clean production, and authentic MC presence. No filler, no clichés, just a soundtrack that’s intentional and personal to you.
They run the show, and I support them. I never move a timeline moment forward without checking in, because nothing should happen before the photographer is ready to capture it. That collaboration makes everything seamless and ensures your memories look as good as they feel.
Yes — every transition is intentional. I don’t fade songs out halfway or hit stop/start. I mix tracks in a way that keeps the energy flowing, so the music feels continuous and the vibe never drops.
It won’t — because I plan for it. I bring backup gear for every critical piece of equipment: speakers, microphones, cables, and power. If something fails, the music keeps going without a hitch. You’ll never even notice.
I think of the very first song of the day as the start of a chain that links all the way to the end. Every song connects to the next, whether it’s ceremony, cocktails, dinner, or the last dance. The flow is continuous — not just in sound, but in spirit.
