About Black Tie Sounds

Black Tie Sounds

Owner / Lead DJ

I absolutely love my job, and I enjoy every aspect of being a wedding DJ/MC. In my job, I get to work from home all week and spend time with my family. Then on the weekends, I get to provide an exciting atmosphere for people to have a great time and dance. Most people dream of a job like this.....I get to live it everyday! I started my DJ career in 1994 in College Station, Texas in Northgate. I have over 10 years of experience as a DJ and Master of Ceremonies. I have performed at over 500+ weddings as a DJ and Master of Ceremonies.

I would like to think what sets me apart is my attention to detail, my prompt responses, and my good rapport with clients. I am very thorough with my planning to make sure that almost every detail is covered to ensure a successful and enjoyable wedding.

    Dance Floor Never Stopped

Jeff was great! He showed up early to the venue. He is very meticulous about his setup, making sure everything worked like it was suppose to. He communicated very well all the way up to the week of the wedding. He made sure we could contact him at any time with any questions. He has a great MC voice. He definitely knew how to work the crowd. The dance floor never stopped all night and he knew how to vibe with the crowd. I would hire Jeff again in a heartbeat.

    Wedding DJ

We had such a great experience working with Black Tie Sounds from start to finish. They communicated with us clearly throughout the planning process and were willing to adjust things whenever we needed them to. When we weren't sure about song choices or timing, they stepped in with solid ideas that fit our vision perfectly. They got everything to us on schedule and even created a detailed timeline so we could see exactly how the night would flow. Their flexibility and willingness to problem-solve made us feel confident on our wedding day, and they delivered exactly what we wanted. We'd definitely recommend Black Tie Sounds to any couple looking for a band or DJ.

The best DJ we could have asked for!

If you’re on the fence about hiring a DJ, look no further. Jeff was fantastic to work with. In all honesty, he tied the whole wedding together. He kept us on point, kept us updated with our day of schedule. And most importantly… the dance floor was PACKED. His energy was perfect for the occasion; not cheesy, not over the top, not lacking in energy; just spot on. He knew what to say, when to say it, and how to say it. Not only was the music on point, but so were all the little details my wife and I didn’t even think about. We asked for a mix of country to two step to, party songs, and some wedding classics. It was like having a family member be our DJ. He made our night so special. Thank you for the help, suggestions, planning tools, etc. Thank you Jeff. You made our wedding unforgettable. We have received nothing but praise from our 200 guests. You’re the man! Thank you

    AMAZING EVERYTHING!!

Jeff was exactly what we needed for our wedding! Not only was he super kind and great to work with, he provided us with insight and experience that we didn't even realize we were missing. The whole process was very smooth and he was so accommodating to all of my requests. We could not recommend him more!!

I will arrive in comfortable clothes to setup in, but I will change into a suit and a tie for the ceremony and reception.
If you are okay with me taking requests, yes. I do use my best judgement and will not play anything that I deem to be inappropriate or tacky. An online guest request link may be provided ahead of time if you would like to pre-approve guest requests.
Yes. I carry a general liability insurance policy, and I can add your venue to my policy as an "additionally insured" entity if they require it. Any fees or costs for additional insurance required by a venue are the client's sole responsibility.
I will be the DJ/MC at your event unless I am deceased, in the hospital, or another act of God has kept me from your wedding. In the case that I am unable to make it to your wedding, I work with a number of talented DJ's in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that are on standby to find a suitable replacement.
I prefer to meet with all of my potential clients first to determine whether I would be a good fit for the event.
I only accept one event per day, ensuring that you are the one and only priority.
Since there are hundreds of venues in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, I have not played at them all; however, I do schedule a site visit before the wedding to determine the conditions, area, and equipment that will be needed to adequately cover the venue with sound.
Yes, I will act as the DJ and Master of Ceremonies at the wedding making all announcements needed or requested.
I make only the necessary announcements, and I let the music control the day/night. Most events of the day/night will be announced ahead of time to make sure that your family and friends are fully aware of the upcoming festivities or next event.
You may pick as much or as little music as you would like. I typically like to know what you really like, and what you really don't like as far as music. I can "read" the crowd based on their participation and fill in the gaps with great selections.
Absolutely! Music on your "Do Not Play" list will not be played at your wedding unless you (the client) "OK" the song with me personally. Guests are not allowed to override your decisions. Only you (the client) can reverse the decision of "Do Not Play" songs.
Depending on how much equipment is needed. I prefer to arrive 3 hours before the first guest arrives at the venue. More time might be needed for lighting, monograms, ceremony sound, etc.
No. I very rarely eat at an event. I have found that food makes me lethargic and tired, and I prefer to stay energized and alert for the event. Thank you for the offer!
Yes. I have one wireless microphone for announcements and toasts, and a wired microphone as an emergency backup.
No signage is set up at events, and no business cards will be set out. I am happy to give someone a business card, but only if requested by a guest or staff.
Once you have met with your DJ and discussed your needs and wants, the deposit is 50% of booked services due immediately to secure the wedding date, and the other 50% is due 30 days before the event date.
