The Old 56, is a historic landmark barn that was built in 1907. We specialize in weddings by including an all inclusive price. Included in options is both an indoor and outdoor ceremony, a large reception area featuring tons of historic charm and visible rafters in the upper level of the barn. A separate bridal suite, grooms space, and an amazing large four bedroom farmhouse round out this ultimate wedding venue. You get all of these features from Thursday - Sunday for a relaxing wedding experience.

The Alta House Event Center is a hidden gem conveniently located off I-80 and 37 minutes East of Des Moines. Conveniently located near several hotels within minutes of your venue for your guests, overnight accommodations are also available right on site. In 1972, 70-year-old Ben Vanderhook tore down old barns in Mahaska County and surrounding counties to create our beautiful barn, located a stone’s throw south of Oskaloosa, Iowa. The 3½ acre property includes a 147×46×60 Quonset hut barn, open fields as well as mature shade trees. Debbie’s Celebration Barn is one of the most extraordinary and romantic settings for a Midwest wedding or special event. The event space in the barn is spacious with many options for originality to fit your occasion. Both east and west ends of The Barn feature large double French doors which add to the charm as well as aid in cross ventilation on warmer summer evenings.
