No. Many venues have minimums because they make a 10 - 15% commission from the caterer based on how much you spend on the food. We choose NOT to make a commission because we want our food options to be as elegant or affordable as your budget allows, and therefore we don’t have a food and beverage or guest count minimum. Some caterers may have a reasonable minimum for specific dates.

We know what it takes to make your wedding day dreams come true, and our mansion and reception space is ideal.
We have 11 large bedrooms with 10 spacious bathrooms. You will be able to enjoy your weekend celebration with 40 of your friends and family.
No, however we work with two shuttle companies who provide first class service. Royal Rides (515.803.0671) offers numerous shuttle buses for up to 18 passengers. Foster Limo (515.505.5612) offers a number of vintage cars including a Bentley.
Unlike many venues, the Conrad Mansion has chosen to limit our total ceremonies to provide a dedicated space under roof as a back up in case of rain. This means in case of inclement weather the venue doesn’t have to be “flipped” from your ceremony to your reception. The reception tables are all available to be set up prior to the ceremony and need not be moved in case of rain.
Because we only host one event per weekend, with weekend overnight packages, our fee structure remains the same whether couple’s hold their ceremony, reception, or both onsite.
Yes, when the agreement is signed to “save the date” we require $2,000 “Date Reservation Fee” for Weekend Celebrations or a $1,000 “Date Reservation Fee” for One & Two Day Rentals.
12 months prior to the event 50% of the remaining fee will be due. The final installment will be required 3 months prior to the event. Partial payments of any amount prior to the specified due dates. Full payment is due by the specified due date. If your event is less than 12 months away we require 40% “Date Reservation Fee” and final installment 3 months prior to the event.

To reserve a date email us at jmossman@heartofiowa.net saying you are ready to book xyz date if it is still available. We suggest you email us stating you are ready to book your preferred date and then include a back up date in case your preferred date is unavailable. Prior to booking a date, we hope you are able to come out in person to visit the Mansion or watch the couples tour below.

Yes, we require “Apres Bar Co.” bar service as they hold our liquor license. Apres Bar offer packages for every budget. From a Cash Bar, Open Bar, Ticketed Bar, or Timed Bar. Apres also offers inperson tastings in Des Moines for the couple to set up their own service. Bar service is unique since it requires licenses, security, and insurance all which our provided by our bar service Apres Bar Co.
Yes, we can park up to 250 vehicles on site. There is no charge for parking.
Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible. We also zero entrance buildings and trained staff who can assist with parking.
